In his inaugural season, Almonte and his Falcons battled injuries and a shortage of players to still compete in ten matches, winning a road contest at PSU Scranton for the highlight of the season. Despite the lack of on-field success, Almonte helped coach
Melanie Shumway to her second-straight All-Region XIX selection, pacing the Lackawanna College offensive attack.
The Huskies
Bloomsburg (7-4-0, 5-4-0) is currently sitting fourth in the table of the PSAC East at 15 points, ahead of Millersville (4-2-3), which also has 15 points but one less loss. The game was fairly even, with WCU holding a slight edge in shots (21-16) and both teams putting nine shots on goal, but WCU scored a goal in the eighth minute to grab an early lead, when a wayward cross sailed over the keeper's head and into the net. Despite a good spell of pressure, Bloomsburg couldn't find the equalizer before WCU doubled its lead in the 36
th minute. The Rams would add a third off a corner in the 64
th minute to make it 3-0 and saw out their win from there.

Haney has won 128 games in his time at Bloom, and, with last year's qualification for the national tournament, Haney has now guided the Huskies to the NCAA tournament in five of his past seven years, and the Huskies have made a PSAC playoff appearance every year since he took over, winning a pair of PSAC titles in his tenure. Haney started as an assistant with both the Bloomsburg men's and women's teams in 2014, before taking over the women's squad. Before that, he spent two years as a volunteer coach with the Bucknell men's squad. Haney also spent time as an assistant coach over two different stints a York College. Before that, Haney played soccer for both Wilkes and Bloomsburg, excelling as a goalkeeper. Haney earned his bachelor's degree from York College in elementary education, and he earned a Master's degree from Saint Francis University in 2009.
Bloomsburg was picked to finish third in the PSAC East in the preseason, based on their NCAA Tournament appearance last year and the returning pieces from last year's tournament team. The Huskies received one first place vote, denying West Chester a unanimous pre-season #1 pick.
