This will be the second game between Lackawanna and Mansfield, with the Falcons winning the first encounter, 1-0, back on September 9th. In that game, the Falcons secured their first-ever win against a Division II opponent and a PSAC opponent through a late goal from Kosi Nwozuzu (Queens, NY), who scored on a loose ball off a corner kick in the 73rd minute of the contest. Lackawanna College held on for the win in the final 17 minutes of the game, Mansfield out-shot the Falcons, 8-6, but all the Lackawanna attempts were on target. You can read the full recap HERE.

The Falcons
Lackawanna (1-14-0) ran out of gas early in the second half in its last contest, watching a 2-0 deficit slip away into a 5-0 loss at home to East Stroudsburg last Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors out-shot the Falcons, 30-2, posting 18 shots on target and racking up 16 corners. ESU led 2-0 at halftime, and the Falcons seemed to be hanging in defensively into the second half, but ESU scored goals in the 62nd, 66th, and 67th minutes to run completely away with the win. Read the full recap HERE.

On the season, the Falcons have given up 80 goals, a 5.33 goals against average, while scoring two goals through 15 games. Lackawanna has 27 shots, 18 on target (.667), while the opposition has attempted an overwhelming 501 shots, 257 on target (.513). The Falcons have six corner kicks, while their opponents have 174 corners this season. Lackawanna has had to make 177 saves on the year, while forcing 16 saves from the opposition.

Nwozuzu, a first-year defender, has one of the two goals for the Falcons this season, scoring the game-winner against Mansfield on September 9th. Nwozuzu has only played in five games this year, missing the last ten games due to a lower leg injury. The last game she saw time in was the Millersville contest on September 12th.

First-year midfielder Alana Alayo (Cherry Hill, NJ) has started all 15 games and has the other goal, scoring on a late shot from distance against West Chester in a 5-1 defeat on September 26th. Alayo has four shots, three on target. She played the full 90 minutes against East Stroudsburg last Wednesday, her eighth-straight game where she went the distance, and she played the full 90 against Mansfield in the first match-up this season.

MacKenzie Seifried (Winfield, NJ), a first-year forward, leads the Falcons with six shots, three on frame this season. She has recorded at least a shot in four of her last six games. Seifried played all 90 minutes against ESU last Wednesday, also her eight-straight game to go the distance. Seifried did not play against Mansfield the first time around.

First-year forward Isabella Caligiuri (Effort, PA) has played in 15 games this season, starting in eleven, and has three shots, all on target this year. She recorded a pair of near misses against West Chester back on September 5th, and had a shot on target in the win against Mansfield. She played 53 minutes in the loss to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday.

Sophia Arvelo (Allentown, PA), a first-year keeper, has started and played in all 15 games for the Falcons this season, giving up 80 goals, a 5.37 goals against average, while making 173 saves, a .684 save percentage. Arvelo had a clean sheet victory against Mansfield, and her next best goal performance came against Millersville, giving up two goals on September 12th. She had nine saves against the Marauders. Her season-best is 18 saves, which came against both Millersville (10/10) and, most recently, against Shepherd on October 17th. Arvelo made 13 saves against East Stroudsburg last week, and she has recorded double-digit saves in nine of her last ten games.

Coach Juan Almonte was named the head women's soccer coach at Lackawanna College in July 2025, and he will be entering his second season in charge for the fall 2026 campaign. Coach Almonte came to Lackawanna after stints as a volunteer coach with both East Stroudsburg and Marywood University. Before that, he was a head coach with East Stroudsburg South HS for two seasons.

In his inaugural season, Almonte and his Falcons battled injuries and a shortage of players to still compete in ten matches, winning a road contest at PSU Scranton for the highlight of the season. Despite the lack of on-field success, Almonte helped coach Melanie Shumway to her second-straight All-Region XIX selection, pacing the Lackawanna College offensive attack.

The Mountaineers
Mansfield (1-16-0) has not won a game since its opener back on August 27th, a 2-1 win against Salem University. Since then, the Mounties have scored just two goals in 16 games and have lost 16 in a row. That's not for lack of trying, however, as five of those losses came by two goals or less, and two of them were 1-0 losses to East Stroudsburg. In their last four games, however, Mansfield has given up 15 goals and scored only one, coming in a 3-1 loss to Shippensburg last Wednesday. In their last game, the Mounties fell 4-0 on the road at nationally ranked Kutztown, giving up three goals in the first half to the Golden Bears, who coasted to the win from there. Kutztown held a 17-3 shot advantage, and had nine corners, including six in the first half.

Mansfield will finish winless in PSAC play, going 0-14-0 in conference play this season. It's the third time in the last three years that the Mounties will go without a win against PSAC competition. The last time Mansfield earned a point came in a wild 3-3 draw with Millersville in 2024. Mansfield hasn't beaten a PSAC team since their win at Shippensburg on September 23rd in 2023.

This year, the Mounties have given up 56 goals, a 3.29 goals per game average, while scoring four goals through 17 matches. Mansfield has 86 shots, 44 on target (.512 SOG), while their opponents have 448 shots and 228 on frame (.509 SOG). The Mounties have 15 corner kicks while their opponents have 145 for the year.

Sophomore forward Aaliyah Stocks leads the team with 27 shots, eleven shots on frame, and one goal for the season. Stocks scored a goal and had two shots in the loss to Bloomsburg back on September 23rd. She has achieved a season-high four shots in a game three times, doing so against Lackawanna (9/9), Shippensburg (9/30), and Lock Haven (10/7). She had two shots, both on frame, in the loss to Kutztown over the weekend.

First-year forward Addison Emenheiser is second on the team with 17 shots, ten on target, and one goal for the season. Emenheiser's goal came in the opener against Salem, where she also posted her season-best seven shots, five on target, in the 2-1 win. She recorded two shots in 90 minutes against Lackawanna back on September 9th. She has not recorded a shot in her last five games, and played the full 90 minutes against Kutztown.

Junior midfielder Brynn Knepp is third on the team with eight shots, three on target, in her 17 games, recording one assist for the Mounties this year. Knepp's assist came against Shippensburg last Wednesday, a 3-1 loss for the Mounties, where she recorded a pair of shots. Knepp did not record a shot, but played the full 90 against Lackawanna, and she played 68 minutes last weekend against Kutztown.

Junior keeper Angel Gule has played 17 matches for the Mounties. Gule has allowed 51 goals, a 3.31 goals against average, while saving 162 shots for the season. Gule has five games where she has allowed just one goal. Her best save performance came against Millersville on September 5th, making 18 stops against the Marauders. She'd match that feat against East Stroudsburg on September 16th. Gule had six saves in the loss to Lackawanna on September 9th. She had nine saves in the loss to Kutztown on Saturday.

Mansfield is coached by Spencer Reinford, wrapping up his second year with the program, in a similar spot as coach Almonte from Lackawanna. Coach Reinford took over a program that was struggling with numbers and still managed to squeeze out ten games last year, and much like coach Almonte wants to build with the Falcons, coach Reinford is determined to build a winning and positive team culture that emphasizes accountability and leadership.

Coach Reinford came to Mansfield after spending two years at Bridgewater College as an assistant with the women's team. Before that, Reinford was an assistant at Bethany College and coached U10 and U17 at Dillsburg Area Soccer Club. Reinford played in college for the University of Rio Grande, a NAIA school, where he won two conference titles and competed in three national tournaments. He also played a year at Coastal Carolina, where he was a member of the Chanticleers squad that won the Sun Belt in 2016.
