We are thrilled to welcome you into the Falcon Family. This is a checklist of upcoming events. Please read through this document carefully as it is the blueprint to the beginning of your academic and athletic career. CheckBox    Completing the Admissions Process
  • Submit your free online application HERE
  • Meet with your admissions advisor to review your application, your program of interest, and answer any questions that you have about the enrollment process
  • Send your official final college and/or high school transcripts to the address given below, or you will NOT be eligible to participate in athletics, receive financial aid, or begin classes. Transcripts must be OFFICIAL, FINAL, and high school transcripts MUST include a graduation date.

  • If sent by mail, official transcripts must be sent in a sealed envelope by your high school
  • If sent electronically, official transcripts must be sent via email or Parchment by your school counselor or another school representative
  • Transcripts of current high school seniors should reflect grades through junior year or later.
  • If you are a transfer student, send your official college transcripts from all institutions at which you enrolled, even if you did not earn any credits. This is required for enrollment, financial aid, and athletic eligibility.
  • If you did earn college credits elsewhere, our Registrar will evaluate your transcripts to determine transfer credit eligibility based on your academic program of interest.
  • Assessment Testing: Lackawanna College is SAT/ACT optional, although course placement assessment is required. If you have taken the SAT or ACT, please send your score report to Lackawanna College or have your test scores included on your official high school transcripts.
  • Students who have earned acceptable scores in each section of the SAT/ACT will not be required to take the College’s course placement exams
  • Students who have earned below acceptable scores or have not taken the SAT/ACT will be required to take the College’s course placement exams, called the Accuplacer. If required, your admissions advisor can help you schedule your Accuplacer test either on-campus or virtually. Test information and practice questions can be found here: https://www.lackawanna.edu/admissions/assessment/
  • Assessment testing is needed to finalize enrollment and assure you are registered for the appropriate level math, reading, and writing courses.

CheckBox    Pay your Commitment Fee. 
 
  • THIS FEE ALLOWS YOU TO OFFICIALLY ENROLL IN THE COLLEGE AND RESERVES YOUR SPACE IN THE RESIDENCE HALLS.
    • Once you pay your commitment fee, you will soon receive your Welcome email outlining all next steps to activate your Lackawanna College Falcons account, register for Academic Orientation and your first semester classes, and complete your housing paperwork to reserve your space in the residence halls. You will also then be able to finalize your financial aid—keep in mind that institutional grants are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

CheckBox    Sign up and attend your Academic Orientation!
 
  • All new students are required to attend a virtual or in-person academic orientation. During this session you will meet various staff from departments across the College and schedule your classes with an academic advisor.  The sooner you sign up and attend Academic Orientation, the more options you will have for course scheduling around your athletic requirements.

All new students are required to attend Falcon Fest, our official Welcome event at the start of the semester. Please follow the steps in your Welcome email to sign up.

  • Contact Student Financial Services at 570-961-7859 to find out if you owe a balance after Financial Aid packaging has been completed.
  • If a balance is owed on your student account, you will need to enroll in a monthly payment plan and have your first payment made before you will be cleared for move-in.
  • Students must be finished with FAFSA and State Aid application by Monday, January 16th.

  • Complete Residence Hall Packet. The packet can be found at this link: RESIDENCE HALL PACKETFor more information please refer to the Welcome Letter that was sent to your personal email address after you were released from admissions.
  • This packet must be completed before arriving on campus.
    • The packet can be submitted on the portal . You must log in with your Lackawanna College issued email address.
    • The following forms must be completed by your doctor, and uploaded to MedProctor.com

Lackawanna College Financial Aid Checklist
  What is a FAFSA? The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used to apply for all need-based aid. The information is used to calculate all financial aid for the student. Make sure to list Lackawanna College (school code 003283).
When should I file? Pennsylvania residents must file before May 1st to be considered for a PA State Grant. Non-residents should file as soon as they know they are interested in attending college.
 
What will I need?
  • An FSA ID - Username and Password for student and parent. You can create an FSA ID when logging into any one of these U.S. Department of Education websites: www.fafsa.gov, www.studentloans.gov, www.nslds.ed.gov, or www.studentaid.gov.
  • Date of birth
  • Name and Social Security Number as they appear on your Social Security card
  • Your prior year Federal Income Tax Return
  • Your parents’ prior year Federal Income Tax Return (if you are a dependent student)
  • W2 Forms and other records of money earned

Entrance Counseling
What is Entrance Counseling? The Entrance Counseling session reviews basic facts about your student loans.
When should I complete? It is recommended that Entrance Counseling be completed as soon as possible, and it is mandatory before
your loans can be processed.
What will I need? Approximately 30 minutes and your FSA ID - Username and Password. (NOTE: Apply for FSA ID – Username and Password at least 3 days prior to completing Entrance Counseling or an MPN).
Student Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)
What is a Master Promissory Note? A Master Promissory Note (MPN) is a document signed by a borrower promising to repay a Federal Stafford Student loan.
When should I complete? It is recommended that you complete your MPN as soon as possible. If you just applied for an FSA ID - Username and Password, you must wait up to three (3) days before you can use it to sign your MPN.
What will I need?
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of birth
  • Two separate references with different U.S. addresses (the first reference should be a parent [if living] or legal guardian).
  • FSA ID – Username and Password  
Pennsylvania State Residents:
  • Complete the FAFSA before May 1st and indicate PA Residency. A link will direct you to complete your state grant. You must print out and mail the signature page to complete the process. Follow the online instructions OR go directly to the PHEAA website (www.pheaa.org) to complete the state grant application.

Please call (570) 961-7859 for information or to schedule an appointment. It is strongly recommended the above steps be completed prior to an appointment with the Office of Financial Aid.

In order to be to qualify for the grants/scholarships listed below, the prospective student must file their FAFSA and must be a legal resident of the grant/scholarships’ state for which they wish to apply. Processing of Out of State Grant/Scholarship Funds
Once your grant/scholarship application has been processed by your respective state agency, Lackawanna College will be notified of these potential funds. These funds will be added to your Award Letter, and a Revised Award Letter will be sent to you with the addition of these funds. The time for processing and disbursement of these funds will vary and are dependent on the agency for which grant/scholarship you have applied.
