The Falcons
Lackawanna (1-13-0) played a strong first 60 minutes in its last contest, trailing 1-0 to Shepherd 15 minutes into the second half, but the Rams found a way to extend their lead, scoring six goals over the final 25 minutes of play. Shepherd held a 37-to-3 advantage in shots, including 25 shots on target, and the Rams forced 18 saves from the Falcons. Read the full recap HERE.

On the season, the Falcons have given up 75 goals, a 5.36 goals against average, while scoring two goals through 14 games. Lackawanna has 25 shots, 18 on target (.720), while the opposition has attempted an overwhelming 471 shots, 239 on target (.507). The Falcons have six corner kicks, while their opponents have 158 corners this season. Lackawanna has had to make 164 saves on the year, while forcing 16 saves from the opposition.

Kosi Nwozuzu (Queens, NY), a first-year defender, has one of the two goals for the Falcons this season, scoring the game-winner against Mansfield University back on September 9th at home. Nwozuzu has only played in five games this year, missing the last nine games due to a lower leg injury. The last game she saw time in was the Millersville contest on September 12th. She did not play against ESU on September 23rd.

First-year midfielder Alana Alayo (Cherry Hill, NJ) has started all 14 games and has the other goal, scoring on a late shot from distance against West Chester in a 5-1 defeat on September 26th. Alayo has four shots, three on target. She played the full 90 minutes against East Stroudsburg on September 23rd, and went 90 minutes against Shepherd this past weekend, recording a shot on target.

MacKenzie Seifried (Winfield, NJ), a first-year forward, leads the Falcons with five shots, three on frame this season. She has recorded at least a shot in three of her last five games. Seifried played 90 minutes against Shepherd this past weekend, recording a shot on goal off a breakaway. It was her seventh-straight game playing the full 90 minutes. Seifried played the full 90 minutes against East Stroudsburg on September 23rd, the first game of the seven-game streak.

First-year forward Isabella Caligiuri (Effort, PA) has played in 14 games this season, starting in eleven, and has three shots, all on target this year. She recorded a pair of near misses against West Chester back on September 5th, and had a shot on target in the win against Mansfield on September 9th. She played 56 minutes against Shepherd this past weekend, and went the full 90 against ESU on September 23rd.

Sophia Arvelo (Allentown, PA), a first-year keeper, has started and played in all 14 games for the Falcons this season, giving up 75 goals, a 5.40 goals against average, while making 160 saves, a .681 save percentage. Arvelo had a clean sheet victory against Mansfield on September 9th, and her next best goal performance came against Millersville, giving up two goals on September 12th. She had nine saves against the Marauders. Her season-best is 18 saves, which came against both Millersville (10/10) and, most recently, against Shepherd on October 17th. Arvelo had eleven saves against ESU on September 23rd.

Coach Juan Almonte was named the head women's soccer coach at Lackawanna College in July 2025, and he will be entering his second season in charge for the fall 2026 campaign. Coach Almonte came to Lackawanna after stints as a volunteer coach with both East Stroudsburg and Marywood University. Before that, he was a head coach with East Stroudsburg South HS for two seasons.

In his inaugural season, Almonte and his Falcons battled injuries and a shortage of players to still compete in ten matches, winning a road contest at PSU Scranton for the highlight of the season. Despite the lack of on-field success, Almonte helped coach Melanie Shumway to her second-straight All-Region XIX selection, pacing the Lackawanna College offensive attack.

The Warriors
East Stroudsburg (5-6-3) comes into the contest with just one win in its last five matches. That win was a 1-0 victory over Mansfield on October 10th. Before that, ESU lost narrow games to both Bloomsburg (2-0) and then-#9 Kutztown (1-0). After the Mansfield win, the Warriors lost 4-0 on the road to West Chester, and then drew with Shippensburg, 1-1, this past weekend. Against Shippensburg, ESU led 1-0 through a 15th minute goal, but gave up the equalizer midway through the first half on an own goal after a corner. ESU had a 19-8 shot advantage for the game, and posted eight shots on target, but neither side could find the breakthrough.

East Stroudsburg (3-6-3) currently sits in sixth in the PSAC East standings at 12 points, six behind Millersville (5-3-3). ESU has two games remaining (vs. Shepherd, vs. Bloomsburg), and can guarantee itself a playoff spot, as long as the Warriors finish above Shippensburg, who would have to win out and hope for ESU to stumble twice. Kutztown (9-1-1) and West Chester (9-1-1) are both tied for the top spot at 28 points each, and will face off in the final game of the season with a chance to clinch the first-place position. Shepherd (7-4-1) is third at 22 points, and Bloomsburg (6-5-1) is fourth at 19 points. Kutztown, West Chester, Shepherd, and Bloom have all already clinched playoff spots for the PSAC East, while Slippery Rock (11-1-1) and Gannon (10-2-1) have each clinched spots in the West.

This season, East Stroudsburg has scored 15 goals, averaging just over a goal per game, while their opponents have scored 18. The Warriors have 234 shots, 115 on target (.491 SOG percentage), and the opposition has 158 shots, 77 on target (.487). The Warriors have 58 corners, and their opponents have 57. ESU has forced 100 saves on the year and has made 59 saves as a team.

First-year midfielder/defender Kali O'Connell leads the team with four goals and one assist, posting nine points on the season. O'Connell leads the Warriors with 39 shots, 16 on goal. O'Connell had a goal against Pace (9/6) on five shots, two on frame, and has scored goals against Millersville (9/26) and, most recently, Shippensburg (10/17), scoring a goal on four shots against the Raiders this weekend. She had a goal and an assist against Lackawanna on September 23rd, posting four shots, all on frame. Her season-high for shots is eight, coming against Mansfield on October 10th.

Senior forward Sophia Lowery is one of the three players on the team with two goals this year, adding an assist to give herself five points in her 14 games. Lowery is second on the team with 35 shots, and she leads the Warriors with 20 shots on goal. Lowery had back-to-back games with a goal against Shippensburg (9/19) and Lackawanna (9/23), then posted the assist to O'Connell's tally against Shippensburg this past weekend. She had six shots, five on target, in the 1-0 win against Mansfield back on October 10th. She had three shots in the win against Lackawanna earlier this season.

First-year forward Gianna Da Cunha also has a pair of goals in 14 games. Da Cunha has posted 20 shots, 10 of which have been on target this season. Da Cunha scored a goal against Pace (9/6) earlier this season, then had the game winner against Mansfield on October 10th, posting six shots, four on target. Da Cunha had three shots but did not score against Lackawanna, and she had one shot in the draw with Shippensburg on the weekend.

Senior defensive midfielder Sydney Hornberger is the third Warrior with two goals this year, scoring her pair in the same game against Lackawanna on September 23rd. Hornberger has ten shots, seven on target this season, and she has appeared in 14 games. She had four shots, three on target, in the game against Lackawanna, and she recorded two shots, one on frame, in the draw with Shippensburg this past weekend.

Junior keeper Ava Perrone is the mainstay for the Warriors in between the pipes, having appeared as a starter in 13 matches this season. Perrone has given up 16 goals, a 1.30 goals-against average, and has made 54 saves, setting a season-best with ten saves against Millersville to start the year. She has two clean sheets this season, coming against Mansfield (9/16) and Lackawanna (9/23). She didn't have to make any saves against the Falcons. Perrone had nine saves in a win against Pace (9/6). She faced 23 shots against West Chester on 10/14, lasting 75 minutes in the loss to the Golden Rams. She did not play against Shippensburg this past weekend.

The head coach for the Warriors is Tayler Jamison, who was hired this past March. Jamison was an assistant coach at Misericordia for five seasons, before joining the Warriors. During her time with the Cougars in Dallas, Jamison helped win three MAC Freedom championships and make four NCAA tournaments. Misericordia was 35-1 in MAC Freedom play in her tenure, going unbeaten in conference play over her final four years. She was also a lead trainer at Back Mountain Soccer Club and was the Director of Coaching in 2021-2022. She was an assistant coach at Washington University in St. Louis, where she helped guide the Bears to the NCAA Elite 8. Jamison is a PSAC graduate, playing at West Chester, where she helped lead the Rams to three NCAA tournament appearances, including two trips to the Sweet 16 and one Elite Eight berth. She transferred to WCU after spending one season at Division I Virginia Commonwealth University.
