SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College Women's Soccer team has two more games left in their regular season, and both are in the Empire State. The Falcons will take on the SUNY Broome CC Hornets on Saturday, October 16
th at 1:00pm in Binghamton, and then the SUNY Ulster County Senators on Sunday, October 17
th at 1:00pm at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson.

About The Falcons
Lackawanna College (0-8-0) comes into the game after a 6-1 loss to Harcum College on Wednesday, October 13th. The lone Falcon goal came off a shot from
Rachel Apsley from 30 yards out.

The veterans are the leaders for the Falcons, as Apsley (4 goals) and Bruno (3 goals) lead the team in scoring.
Jada Tha has the other goal, a free-kick against Hagerstown CC.

Sophia Andreoli is mainly the keeper, and had a number of saves against Harcum College. She did play in the midfield against Hagerstown due to some injuries for the Falcons. Sophia has 73 saves so far this season.
Emily Cherubini has seen time in between the sticks for the Falcons this year, and had 12 saves against Hagerstown CC.

The Falcons are led by first-year head coach
Megan Tweedy, a Lakeland HS product and former Lackawanna College soccer player. Megan was a multi-sport athlete in her time at Lackawanna College, and has spent time coaching both AAU and HS soccer locally in NEPA.

SUNY Broome CC
Saturday's opponent is Broome County (6-3-0). The Hornets are coming off a 6-1 win over the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks 5-0. The Hornets had 27 shots on target, and got a hat-trick from Arianna Michitti.

Broome and Lackawanna share a common opponent in the SUNY Corning Red Barons. The Hornets beat Corning at home, 6-0 on in late September. The Falcons played Corning on October 6
th and lost, 4-1, on the road.

Michitti leads the Hornets with 16 goals on the season. She has four games with three or more goals on the year. Dana Stepp is second on the team with eight goals on the year, while Avery Kenyon leads Broome with five helpers on the year. Kayla Wyckoff is the main keeper for the Hornets, and has five clean sheets on the season. Wyckoff has 54 saves on the season.

Longtime head coach Bill Rich is in charge at SUNY Broome. In his 25 years, Rich has over 300 career wins, three national championships ('07, '08, '16), five region championships, and 13 MSAC championships. He's won conference COTY 12 different times, and was NJCAA National COTY in 2007.

SUNY Ulster County
The regular season finale is Sunday, and the opponent will be SUNY Ulster (3-4-0). The Senators enter the contest after a 3-0 win over Springfield Tech CC this past week. They do not share any common opponents with the Falcons this season.

Sophie Santiago leads the team with four goals on the year. Itzel Michaca is second for the Senators with three goals this year. Sierra Barbiani is the keeper, and has close to 40 saves on the season.

Gerardo Martinez is the head coach at SUNY Ulster. He joined the program in 2019 to revive a soccer program that hadn't been in action since 2009. Martinez coached at Monticello and Ellenville school districts in New York, previous to his time at Ulster. Before that, he coached in California at the Saint Matthews Parish School, where he finished his Masters in Sport Psychology from Cal State Long Beach.

Sunday's game will be at 1:00pm, and will be played at nearby Bard College.
