CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Lackawanna College Women's Soccer team dropped a road mid-week road contest, 6-1, against the Harcum College Bears, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears (3-4-0) scored mid-way through the first half, and ended up with four goals before the end of the half. In the midst of that scoring barrage, the Falcons (0-8-0) got a goal back from
Rachel Apsley, who rocketed a shot from 30 yards out that hit the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
The first twenty minutes were pretty evenly matched, with Harcum buzzing crosses and shots into the box against the Lackawanna defense, but never truly threatening. Meanwhile, the Falcons were able to hold their nerve in the midfield and made some pushes forward. A Lackawanna free-kick outside the area fizzled out, and Harcum pounced on it, quickly distributed from back-to-front, and scored to breakthrough and grab a 1-0 lead.
After the halftime interval, Harcum scored twice more, and held firm on defense to preserve the 6-1 advantage.
Lackawanna College returns to action this weekend with a pair of road matches in New York. First, the Falcons travel to Binghamton to take on Broome County CC on Saturday, October 16
th. Then, on Sunday, October 17
th, the Falcons head to Stone Ridge, NY to take on SUNY Ulster CC.
