SCRANTON, Pa. -- The third Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2026-2027 school year is Lackawanna College women's soccer student-athlete
Kosi Nwozuzu (Queens, NY)!
Kosi, a defender by trade, took over against Mansfield last Wednesday at home, taking the ball into the attacking zone several times and challenging the Mounties' defense. Eventually, Nwozuzu was the breakthrough, scoring the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute, the first goal of the season for Lackawanna College, off a free kick from
Aislyn Fitzgerald (Langhorne, PA). Then, Nwozuzu spearheaded a strong defensive stand for the Falcons to earn Lackawanna College its first ever victory over a PSAC opponent in any sport. She followed that up with 84 minutes of action on Saturday against Millersville, helping the Falcons stay close in a 2-0 loss to the Marauders.
Nwozuzu is a first-year student-athlete at Lackawanna College, studying Nursing. She transferred to Lackawanna from CUNY York, but she did not play while attending York. Kosi won regional championships in Eastern New York youth leagues and was a part of the Olympic Development team in 2019.
The Falcons are back to action on Wednesday, September 16th, when they are set to host Bloomsburg University in another PSAC contest for the Falcons. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm ET at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore.
