SCRANTON, Pa. -- The fifth Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2026-2027 school year is Lackawanna College men's soccer student-athlete Miguel Pereira (Revere, MA)!

"Miggy" had the key play this past weekend, gathering a looping cross from Malik Salau (Lagos, Nigeria) and one-timing it past the keeper at Pitt-Johnstown for a goal in the 18th minute, the first goal for the Falcons in over six games. Lackawanna College made that goal stand up, and the Falcons earned their first-ever win against NCAA Division II and PSAC competition, as well as the first victory in head coach Will Flannery's career. Pereira finished with four shots, two on target, in the victory.

On the season, Pereira has a pair of goals, scoring another in a draw against King's College last month on the road. His two goals are the most on the team this season. Miguel is a first-year student, studying Business at Lackawanna College.

The Falcons are back to action against a PSAC East opponent on Wednesday, October 7th, when East Stroudsburg visits Schautz Stadium in Dunmore for a 3:30pm ET kickoff.
