#9: 57 Student-Athletes Named All-Academic NJCAA
This past summer, Lackawanna College student-athletes were honored for their excellent performance in the classroom, as 57 student-athletes across all varsity competitions were named the 2024-2025 All-Academic NJCAA squads.

Student-athletes needed to earn a 3.6 GPA or better for the 2024-2025 scholastic year, with almost 14,000 NJCAA student-athletes earning recognition.

For Lackawanna College, baseball student-athlete John Hughes (Hamilton, NJ) was the only Falcon All-Academic 1st Team honoree, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout the year.

Elsewhere, 25 Lackawanna student-athletes were named to the All-Academic 2nd Team, maintaining a GPA between 3.8 and 3.99 the entire academic year. 31 Falcons made All-Academic 3rd Team, getting between a 3.6 and 3.79 through the academic year.

Every sport was recognized with at least one honoree. Baseball had the most at 17 All-Academic members, while women's volleyball had nine, and softball and women's basketball each had six student-athletes cited.

On top of that, six Lackawanna College athletics programs were named as NJCAA Academic Teams Of The Year. Lackawanna College Women's Volleyball (3.59 GPA), Softball (3.47), Baseball (3.31), Women's Basketball (3.20), Men's Soccer (3.16), and Women's Soccer (3.09) all earned GPAs over 3.00 to be recognized.

Women's Volleyball was inside the Top 40 across the country in women's volleyball teams, while softball was in the top 75 and baseball just outside the top 80.

The announcement was an important reminder of the sometimes-forgotten "student" portion of "student-athlete," and how critical it is to the success of the individual, as well as the team.
