Scranton, PA - Thursday afternoon, the Lackawanna College softball team continued to display their strong hitting as they recorded their fifth consecutive game of scoring double-digit runs. Today they swept Monroe College by scores of 13-4 and 14-6.
The Falcons started the first game by scoring 11 runs in the first two innings of the contest.
Camryn Domiano highlighted the first inning scoring with a three-run home run. In the second inning, the Falcons scored six runs on a
Felicia Saar single, a Domiano walk and four consecutive doubles.
Morgan Mesaris,
Gianna Telesco,
Madison McVicar and
Makenzie Rose contributed those two-baggers. Even though Monroe College scored one in the third and three more in the fourth, it wasn't enough as
Skylynn Gilligan's two RBI single in the bottom of the fifth led to the Falcons eight running the Mustangs.
Of Lackawanna's 11 hits, six were for extra bases. Those hits were Domiano's homer and the doubles by Mesaris, Telesco, Rose and two by McVicar.Â
Players with multi-hit games were Mesaris (4-2-3-2, 2B), Telesco (2-2-2-1, 2B) and McVicar (2-2-2-2, 2B).Â
Meghan Fritz was the winning pitcher. She surrendered four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four.
Lackawanna and Monroe played an action-packed back-and-forth game in the second game that saw the Falcons come away with the 14-6 victory. With the game tied at five andÂ
Lackawanna batting in the bottom of the fourth.
Morgan Mesaris doubled in the tie-breaking run. The Falcons would score two more in that inning to give them an 8-4 lead going into the top of the fifth. Monroe squeezed out a run in the top of that frame, only to see Lackawanna rally for six runs in the bottom of the frame to eight-run the Mustangs a second time. Both
Camryn Domiano and Messaris highlighted that rally with a two-run double by Domiano and an RBI double by Messaris.
Much like the first game, the majority of Falcons' 14 hits went for extra bases. There were seven doubles, one each by Bella Mandarano,
Skylynn Gilligan and
Makenzie Rose, and two each by Dominano and Mesaris. Gabby Vuocolo had the only triple.
Fours Falcons had multi-hit games. They were Domiano (4-2-3-3, two 2Bs), Mesaris ((4-2-3-2, two 2Bs), Rose (4-1-2-1, 2B) and Vucolo(3-1-2-2, 3B).
