Falcons Sweep Harford with Game 2 Win

Box Score April 24, 2021

Scranton, PA - It was a great day for fans of the Lackawanna College softball team both on and off the field. The weather was great for a softball twin-bill and the Falcons offense and pitching matched the weather. Lackawanna utilized the eight run-rule in each contest to win by scores of 15-1 and 14-1.

In the opening game of today's doubleheader Lackawanna scored a solo run in the first and then seven in the second and six in the fourth to claim a shortened five-inning victory.  The Falcons recorded six extra-base hits in the opener with Gabrielle Vuocolo and Madison McVicar each going long with a four-bagger and Camryn Domiano, Skylynn Gilligan, Tess Ruschman and Vuocolo all contributing doubles. Three Falcons also had multi-hit contests. They were Savannah Glover (2-1-2-1), Domiano (2-2-2-0) and Vuocolo (3-2-3-3).

Tess Ruschman received credit for the win. The righty allowed zero hits and one unearned run over three innings while striking out five and walking one. Stephanie Kibbe threw two innings in relief, holding the Owls scoreless on one hit. Kibble struck out two.

In the second game Lackawanna again claimed a shortened five-inning win. The Falcons scored eight in the first, another run in the third and three more in the fourth to set the stage for their second eight run-rule victory of the day. The Falcons recorded three extra-base hits, a double by Gabby Vuocolo, another two-bagger by Megan Fritz and a dinger by Camryn Domiano. Lackawanna also had two players with multi-hit games, Megan Fritz (3-2-2-2) and Chloe Fuharty (2-1-2-1).

Fritz earned the win. She allowed three hits and no runs over two innings, striking out four and walking no one. Both Maykayla Quick and Kamden Miller followed in relief. Quick hurled two innings of shutout ball, giving up one hit and striking out three while walking one. Miller pitched one inning, relinquished one run on one hit while recording a strikeout, and giving up one walk.
