Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, SC - On day 3 of their Myrtle Beach trip, the Lackawanna College Softball team was back in action for an early morning doubleheader. They would face SUNY-Adirondak in the first game, followed by a game against Paul D Camp Community College. After yesterday's win, the Lady Falcons were to hoping to build on that momentum.
In the first game of the day,
Courtney Hoffman got the 1st inning started, when she walked and then stole 2nd baseball, to put herself in scoring position. At the next at bat,
Ashley Bruno hit a single to center field, which advanced Hoffman to 3rd base. Hoffman would eventually score on a wild pitch to give Lackawanna the early lead, 1-0. A few batters later,
Mia Pawelski hit an RBI double, scoring Bruno.
Morgan Mesaris was hit by a pitch on the next play and
Lynda Lawrence then drove a single to center field, which scored both Pawelski and Mesaris. The Lady Falcons finished their half of the inning, leading 4-0. SUNY-Adirondak got 1 run back, but Lackawanna answered, when
Morgan Mesaris drove in
Gabrielle Vuocolo to go back up by 4 runs, 5-1, in the 2nd inning. The Lackawanna bats came to life again in the 3rd inning, when
Ashley Bruno and
Mary Dinice each drove in 2 runs to take a commanding 9-1 lead. SUNY-Adirondak added 3 more runs, but the Lady Falcons added 2 more, of their own, to finish the game with an 11-4 victory.
Lexi Bruno picked up the win for Lacakwanna, pitching 2 shutout innings and striking out 3, while
Stephanie Kibbe got her first save of the year.
In game two, Paul D, Camp jumped out to a an early 1-0 lead, but
Amaya Townsend would shut the Lady Hurricanes down and get a lot of support from her offense.
Chloe Fluharty got things started in the bottom of the 3rd inning, when she doubled down the line. The Lady Falcons would load up the bases and score on a catcher's interference and two sacrifices, to take a 5-1 lead. Townsend continued to retire the PDCCC batters and she would only give up one more run, in the game. Lackawanna closed things out when
Gabrielle Vuocolo hit a single, driving in 2 more runs, 7-2. The game ended on that score and the Lady Falcons would sweep the day's doubleheaders.
With the sweep, Lackawanna moves to 4-1 on the season and has won 3 games in a row. The Lady Falcons' pitchers combined for 9 strikeouts and only gave up a total of 6 runs.
Courtney Hoffman was 3-5, from the plate, on the day, while
Ashley Bruno went 4-6. Lackawanna will be back in action, again tomorrow, when they face Iowa Central Community College at 9:00am and Mohawk Valley Community College at 11:00am.
