BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Down to just six players thanks to injuries, Lackawanna College women's basketball couldn't hang with NJCAA DII #3 Harcum College on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 106-34 Region XIX DII contest on the road.
Â
The Falcons (7-15, 1-11), already without three players due to injury, were also down starting point guard
Alania Ortiz (Allentown, PA), who picked up an injury in the last game on Tuesday. That left the Falcons with just six players to take on the high-powered Bears (21-1, 12-0), and Harcum didn't take its foot off the gas, dominating with a high-pressing defense that hounded the Lackawanna guards. Harcum scored the game's first 26 points, with a
Canyah Randle (Scranton, PA) three-point play on a putback as the first Lackawanna score, coming at 3:15 in the first quarter. Harcum led 30-5 after one quarter, and was up 62-7 at the half.
Â
Randle led the Falcons with 14 points, while
Sophia Summa (Dunmore, PA) added 12, hitting four three-pointers in the second half.
Â
Harcum was led by a game-high 25 points from Sofia Vitucci. Wilkes-Barre native
E'ternity Aiken had eight points for the Bears.
Â
Lackawanna College has now dropped five-straight games. The Falcons will get back to action on Tuesday, February 10
th, when they travel to West Windsor Twp., NJ to take on the DII #14 Mercer County CC Mustangs. Tip is set for 5:00pm ET inside the Mercer County CC Gymnasium, and the game is the first of a doubleheader, with the men's teams playing the second game at 7:00pm ET.
