NORTH EAST, MD. – The curtain closed on Lackawanna College women's basketball's final season competing in junior college, as the Falcons fell on the road at Cecil College, 82-56, on Saturday afternoon in non-region action in Maryland.

Lackawanna (7-21) was behind by a 46-23 margin at halftime, but the Falcons showed one last glimpse of fight before the season came to a close. In the third quarter, Lackawanna shot 44% from the floor and closed to as close as 54-40 with just under three minutes to play.
Canyah Randle (Scranton, PA) had six of her team-high 21 points in the third period, while
Sophia Summa (Dunmore, PA) scored seven of her 12 points. The Falcons held Cecil to just 25% shooting in the quarter and forced six turnovers.

Alania Ortiz (Allentown, PA) hit a three-pointer 15 seconds into the fourth quarter to bring the Falcons within 13 at 56-43, but the Seahawks (12-11) quickly answered with a three to go back up 16. The Falcons got within 13 against when
Desireé Nales (Allentown, PA) hit a free throw with under eight to go, but Cecil hit a 10-2 run over the next two minutes of game play to go ahead 69-48 and extinguish the last flurry from Lackawanna College.

Cecil had four players in double-figures and shot 42% for the game, hitting 12 three-pointers and scoring 21 points off turnovers. The Seahawks were led by Bri Shelton's 23 points, while Ja'Mya Muhammad added 12 points. Kendra Watters scored eleven points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and Zuri Matthews added eleven points off the bench.

Lackawanna shot 35% from the floor, but managed just 3-for-24 from three-point territory. The Falcons had 23 turnovers, but still scored 19 points off 13 Cecil turnovers. Three players scored in double-figures for Lackawanna College, with Randle's 21 points and 19 rebounds leading the way. Ortiz finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while Summa had 12 points, four steals, and four assists.
Abbie Larson (Olyphant, PA) added six points, five rebounds, and four assists.

The final women's basketball season competing in junior college for Lackawanna officially ends with today's loss. Lackawanna finishes its year at 7-21, having lost its last eleven games, and the Falcons will now look to turn their collective attention to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schedule next year, along with four-year competition.
