MSOC: Falcons, Huskies Finish In Scoreless Draw

Both Of Lackawanna College And Bloomsburg Had Plenty Of Chances, But Neither Could Find The Breakthrough

10/14/26

DUNMORE, Pa. – A tight, nervy 90 minutes couldn't separate Bloomsburg and Lackawanna College men's soccer, as the Falcons held the Huskies to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon at Schautz Stadium.

Lackawanna College (1-7-5) earned its third-straight draw against a PSAC East opponent, but not for lack of trying to get the win. The Falcons peppered the visitors with eight shots in the first, five on target, but they couldn't find the breakthrough. Bloomsburg (4-5-5) had ten shots overall, including a 5-0 shot advantage in the second half, but just two shots on target, as Lackawanna keeper Kevin Nievas (West Palm Beach, FL) and the Falcon defense managed to hold the Huskies off the scoresheet.

In the first 15 minutes, Lackawanna College had four chances, three through forward Tito Tokunboh-Salako (Columbia, MD), including a shot in the 11th minute that forced a diving save from the Bloomsburg keeper. On a breakaway early in the half, the Falcons seemed to have Miguel Pereira (Revere, MA) in clear on goal, but the official called it back for an inadvertent stoppage.

Nievas made a stop in the 22nd minute, and Tokunboh-Salako recorded two more shots in the 24th and 25th minutes, but the Falcons still couldn't unlock the Bloomsburg defense.

As the first half ground on, Bloomsburg held more of the possession, but Lackawanna had a penalty shout when Michael Hoy (Mechanicsburg, PA) went down in the box, but the official waved play on.

In the second half, Bloomsburg controlled the ball a little more, pushing on the Falcons and forcing pressure with a press in the midfield. Midway through the half, it was the Huskies' turn to ask the officials for a call in the box, when a Bloomsburg forward collided with Nievas trying to chase a ball down in the box, but the official once again waved off the shouts and instead awarded a goal kick.

Lackawanna College didn't record a shot in the second half, but the Falcons though they might have found the winner in the 90th minute, when Pereira burst through the line, latching on to a great through ball and sliding a ball into the net, but the assistant referee had his flag raised and the Falcons were called for offside. As Falcons streamed to the corner flag to celebrate what they originally thought was a miraculous game winner, Bloomsburg quickly reset the ball and got it into play, as the Lackawanna defense scrambled to get back into position, with the Falcons managing to clear their lines before Bloomsburg could get a shot off. Time soon expired, getting Lackawanna its third-straight draw with a PSAC East opponent.

Tokunboh-Salako had five shots, four on target, while Adrian Argote (Leonardtown, MD) had a shot on target for the Falcons. Aydin Boyunegmez (Millville, PA) and Michael Hoy (Mechanicsburg, PA) each recorded shots, while Nievas had two saves for his clean sheet.

Lackawanna College is scheduled to get back to action on Saturday, October 17th, when the Falcons are set to host the Shepherd University Rams. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm ET at Schautz Stadium, and the game is the second of a doubleheader, with the women's teams playing first at 1:00pm ET.
