WREST: Pastuizaca, Schumaker Lead Falcons To Sixth

The 1-2 Combination Of Michelle Pastuizaca and Hailey Schumaker at 180 Helped Lackawanna Finish Sixth At Alfred State On Sunday

ALFRED, NY – Lackawanna College women's wrestling earned a sixth-place finish, thanks to the 1-2 punch of Michelle Pastuizaca and Hailey Schumaker at 180, at the 2026 Alfred State Open on Sunday afternoon, hosted by Alfred State in in southwestern New York.
 
Pastuizaca (Nanticoke, PA) and Schumaker (Center Valley, PA) finished first-and-second, respectively, in the 180 lb. bracket, with Pastuizaca going a perfect 4-0, and Schumaker picking up three wins. The only blemish for Schumaker came to Pastuizaca, in the round-robin bracket, dropping by a fall at 1:22. Pastuizaca won all four of her matches by fall, with the win against Schumaker being the most challenging. Schumaker's three wins all came via fall, as well.
 
Elsewhere, Mary Henry (Gillett, PA) finished fourth at 124 lbs., going 3-2 in her five bouts. Henry fell via fall in her opener, then reeled off three-straight wins to reach the third-place bout, picking up a tech. fall and a pair of falls to get there. Henry ended up dropping the third-place match to Daniela Contin from Point Park, who she lost to at the start of the day, with Contin winning by fall, earning Henry a fourth-place finish.
 
At 145 lbs., Haylee Fessler (Lansford, PA) finished fourth, going 2-2 in her four matches. Fessler made the semis after a first-round pinfall victory, then lost in the semis to drop to the consolation bracket. She picked up another victory by fall to make the third-place bout, before she fell to Mary Smith from Maine Maritime by fall at 1:19.
 
Skylar Benninger (Palmyra, PA) fell in her pair of matches at 117 lbs. to round out the competing Falcons on the day.
 
Heidelberg won the team competition, earning two first-place finishes, two second-place finishes, and two third-place finishes to get 98 points. Ithaca was second at 85 points, and Point Park finished third at 72.5. The Falcons weren't far off the pace, finishing at sixth with 63.5 points.
 
The Falcons are back to work on Tuesday, January 20th, with an away dual at Cedar Crest College. The bout is set for a 6:00pm ET start in Allentown, PA.
