MBB: Morris Uses Second-Half Surge To Down Lackawanna

The Titans Shot Nearly 56% From The Floor In The Second Half And Forced 23 Turnover On The Night To Beat The Falcons

11/18/25

SCRANTON, Pa. – Sloppy play and a hot-shooting second half from the visitors doomed the Lackawanna College men's basketball team on Tuesday night, as County College of Morris pulled away for the 88-76 win in Region XIX DII play inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.

The Falcons (4-2, 0-1) shot well from the field (46.7%) but committed 23 turnovers and went just 9-for-29 from downtown. Meanwhile, the visiting Titans (4-1, 1-0) shot 55.9% from the floor in the second half and nearly 50% for the game. Morris also outscored the Falcons 26-8 in points off turnovers.

The turning point in the contest came in the first half, when a 10-2 run in 90 seconds of time swapped the lead for good. A put-back from Matthew Nora (Houston, TX) made it 24-21, Falcons, but a three-pointer from Morris tied the game. Latrell Mark (Frederick, MD) scored quickly to answer off a nice back-door cut, but a free throw, followed by a turnover, put Morris in a position to take the lead, down one. Kieran Durkin, after missing a jumper but getting his own rebound, canned a three-pointer to put the Titans up 28-26. A one-and-done for the Falcons on one side turned into another three-pointer from Morris to go ahead 31-26 with 6:17 to play.

The Falcons got as close as three the rest of the half, which included a put-back slam off a missed free throw from Noah McIntosh (Philadelphia, PA) to make it 41-38 at the half.

Early in the second half, Mark hit a deep three-pointer to pull the Falcons within one at 46-45 barely two minutes into the half. The Titans lengthened it back out to five, but a David Popson (Wilkes-Barre, PA) three-point play brought it back to a two-point deficit with 16:15 to go.

A Noah Elias (Silver Spring, MD) three put the Falcons back within one at 52-51 with 14:45 to play, but an 8-0 Morris run put the game essentially out of reach with 11:59 to play, as Morris would carry the lead the rest of the way. The Falcons would only get as close as four, at 73-69, with under five minutes to play. But, Morris got a jumper in the lane, then a three-pointer from Durkin, who scored 23 in the second half and finished with a game-high 30, putting away the Falcons for good.

Aside from Durkin's 30, Morris got 18 points from Nigel Merville and eleven points from Ashley Cole, who also had six assists. Lackawanna got 14 points from Mark, who also had six assists, four rebounds, and three steals, while McIntosh finished with 14 points and Elias had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Lackawanna will look to bounce back on Saturday, November 22nd, when the Falcons host Delaware Tech CC in Region XIX DII action. Tip is set for 3:00pm ET inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium, and the game will be the second of a doubleheader with the women's teams, who will tip first at 1:00pm ET.
