ROCHESTER, NY – Three players scored in double-figures and Lackawanna College women's basketball earned its first win under head coach Darnell Ford, taking down the SUNY Brockport Club women's basketball team, 69-37, on Sunday morning at Monroe CC.

The Falcons (1-3) were led by
Alania Ortiz (Allentown, PA), who scored a career-high 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting, recording five rebounds and five steals.
Ali Johns (North Wales, PA) scored 19 points and had nine rebounds, while
Sophia Summa (Dunmore, PA) had 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Lackawanna immediately hit the front in the first quarter, building a 6-0 lead inside the first 90 seconds of game time. Brockport (0-4) fell behind 14-3 before the Golden Eagles started to find their footing, scoring a pair of buckets to make it 15-7, Falcons, with under a minute to play in the first quarter. Lackawanna didn't miss a beat, however, when
Abbie Larson (Olyphant, PA) splashed a three-pointer to make it 18-7, and Summa hit two free throws to close out the quarter.

The Falcons opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run, capped by a Johns three-pointer at 6:24 to make it 32-9. That was the first of three-straight three-pointers from the Falcons, as both Ortiz and Summa followed with downtown shots of their own. Lackawanna led 38-14 with under two to play, then hit another 7-0 spurt, with Summa putting the exclamation point on it with another three to send the Falcons into the half up 45-14. They'd coast the rest of the way to the win.

The Falcons shot 42.4% from the floor, including 47.3% in the first half alone, and forced 19 turnovers, outscoring the Golden Eagles 22-6 on points off turnovers. Brockport Club shot 22.5% from the floor, and was just 2-for-21 from three-point range.

Lackawanna College's win is the first under head coach Darnell Ford. He'll look to go for his second win on Tuesday night, when the Falcons are set to host the County College of Morris. Tip is set for 5:00pm ET inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium on the 18
th, with the men's teams following at 7:00pm ET. It'll be the Region XIX DII opener for the Falcons.
