SCRANTON, Pa. -- Looking to keep momentum rolling in the early part of the 2023 season, the Lackawanna College football squad will take on one of its east coast rivals on Saturday, when the Falcons take flight in the deep south to play Georgia Military College.Â
The game is set for a 1:00pm ET kickoff from Davenport Field in Milledgeville, Georgia, and will be broadcast via JockJive Sports at jockjive.com. Robert Williamson of JockJive will have the play-by-play commentary.Â
The Falcons (2-0) come into the week after a dominant victory over Louisburg College last weekend, 44-6, on the road in Chesterfield, Virginia. The Falcons scored points on their first six possessions against the Hurricanes, racking up over 400 yards of offense while limiting Louisburg to 114 yards of total offense for the game.
Terrez Worthy (Sophomore; Salisbury, MD) ran for over 100 yards for the second straight game and scored a touchdown on an electrifying 65-yard run in the first quarter. You can read the full recap

Georgia Military (1-2) is slumping heading into this weekend's contest. The Bulldogs won their first game in a blowout over Georgia Christian, but have suffered back-to-back losses in subsequent weeks, dropping a 26-10 decision on the road at defending national champion Iowa Western CC two weeks ago, before falling in a 52-28 shootout last week at home to Tyler Junior College. The Apaches piled up nearly 700 yards of offense, and Military was within striking distance after halftime when the Bulldogs returned an interception for a score to cut the deficit to just seven, but Tyler hit the accelerator and GMC couldn't respond. Quarterback Chip Cooper came off the bench to go 7-for-15 for 64 yards and two scores, while running 15 times for 81 yards. Terry McKithen had a 46-yard touchdown grab, and Frank Osorio Jr. added two catches for 42 yards and a score.Â
This will be the 19th meeting between Lackawanna College and Georgia Military College, in a rivalry that dates back to 1995, when the two teams met in the Golden Isles Bowl. GMC holds a 10-8 advantage over Lackawanna in the previous 18 meetings, and won the game at GMC last year, 34-12, in a dominant performance against the Falcons where the Bulldogs scored the game's first 27 points. HERE. Lackawanna, winners in six of the last seven match-ups, paid that loss back with an equally as dominant 42-11 win at home later last year, scoring 35 points in the second half to run away with the victory. You can read the recap from that game
HERE. Similar to last year, this weekend's edition is the first of two match-ups between the two schools this year, with Lackawanna set to host the Bulldogs on November 11th in the regular season finale.Â
