SCRANTON, Pa. --Â The Lackawanna College women's basketball team held a lead heading into the fourth quarter, but the #10 Harcum College Bears had just a little more juice in the final period, pulling in front and away with a 55-47 win over the Falcons in a Region XIX Division II match-up on Saturday afternoon inside the Lackawanna Student Union.
Â
The Falcons (8-9, 4-4) led 37-34 heading into the fourth quarter, with a partisan crowd and some momentum on their side, but the Bears went on a 21-10 fourth quarter spurt to pull away, hitting clutch shots down the stretch, while the Falcon offense struggled from the field. Tenth-ranked Harcum (22-1, 7-0) was 11-for-13 from the free throw line in the second half, and shot just slightly better than the Falcons (31% to 27%) to pull away with the win in the second half.
Â
Lackawanna was led by
Gabrielle Jackson (Darby Twp, PA), who had 17 points on four three-point shots, with eight boards and three assists.
Mahogony Collins (Harrisburg, PA) had seven points, 13 rebounds, and eight blocks. The Falcons shot 25% for the game, and outrebounded the much-bigger Bears (41-32), but committed 17 second half turnovers, which the Bears turned into 17 points.
