CRANFORD, NJ -- The Lackawanna College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close on the road at Union County College in the Region XIX DII semi-finals, dropping a 72-52 decision to the Owls on Thursday night in Cranford, NJ.
 
The Falcons (11-11) fought tooth-and-nail with the taller, longer Owls (23-5), and had it down to 17-15 after one quarter of play, but the Union shots started to heat up, and the Falcons couldn't quite hold them back. Lackawanna trailed 29-15, mid-way through the second quarter, but managed to cut the damage down to 35-26 at the break. Then, early in the third, a brief spurt had the Falcons within five points at 35-30, but Union quickly hit a run to lengthen the lead, and the Falcons wouldn't get closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Lackawanna was led by Cianna Roberts (Brooklyn, NY), who finished with a team-high 14 points, while Dominique Geiger (Plainfield, NJ) put up eleven points and Gabrielle Jackson (Darby Twp, PA) added eight points.
 
The win propels Union into the Region XIX DII championship game, where they will face top-seed Harcum College on the road on Saturday, February 25^th, in Bryn Mawr, PA. The loss for Lackawanna College closes out their 2022-2023 campaign.
