2/16/23

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College men's basketball overcame a sluggish first half performance to score 49 points in the second half, on their way to a 90-86 win over SUNY Rockland CC on Thursday evening in the Lackawanna College Student Union in Scranton.

The Falcons (16-9) shot 45% for the game and were 22-for-33 from the free throw line, putting five players in double-figures. Aamir Mack (Atlantic City, NJ) had another monster game for the Falcons, scoring a team-high 26 points, while Nashawn Johnson (Bronx, NY) posted a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds, putting up 12 points and ten boards in the second half. Nasir Brown (Wilmington, DE) also posted 16 points, while Malek Mims (Bethlehem, PA) had eleven points and five assists. The Falcons had 21 assists to just 12 turnovers, while turning the Hawks over 17 times on ten steals.

Rockland (11-18) shot 42.1% from the field, and outrebounded the Falcons in the loss. Tayejon Lynch had a team-high 26 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while Jaziar Whitely added 20 points and nine rebounds, and Emmanuel Barkor added 18 points and 14 boards.

Lackawanna now switches its focus to its final Region XIX DII game, happening Saturday, February 18th at County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ. That game is set for a 12:00pm ET start. A win for the Falcons will secure the #2 seed and a home game in the Region XIX semi-finals. A loss means the Falcons will be on the road in the semi-finals.
