BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Lackawanna women's basketball did its best to keep things close in the first half, but a killer run from the hometown Harcum Bears did the Falcons in, as Harcum pulled away for an 88-58 Region XIX Division II win on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The Falcons (2-6, 0-3) fell behind early, but battled back within seven points in the opening portion of the second quarter, thanks to a
Desiree White (First Year; Carlisle, PA) three-pointer that cut the deficit to 25-18. However, #11 Harcum (6-2, 2-1) ratcheted up the pressure and closed the quarter on a 20-7 spurt, which included a 16-4 run over the final five minutes of the second, putting itself up 45-25 at the break and setting the Bears up to coast the rest of the way in the second half.
Â
White led all scorers with 23 points, while
Jayla South (First Year; Long Pond, PA) had 14 points and
Saraiah Franklin (First Year; Philadelphia, PA) added 13 points. Mikaela Paris and Ciara Bailey each had 14 points for Harcum.
Â
The Falcons will continue their Region XIX DII schedule on Tuesday, December 5
th, when they are set to host the Essex County College Wolverines. It's the first game of a doubleheader, and tip is set for 5:00pm ET at the Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
