Â
The Falcons (5-6, 3-3) held a slender 32-24 lead past the midway point of the second frame against the host Mighty Oaks (5-5, 1-5), when a foul on a shot attempt, followed by a technical on the Salem bench, gave Lackawanna a chance to start to build a lead out.
Jayla South (First Year; Long Pond, PA) went 2-for-4 on the line, then
Zaliyah Small (First Year; Scranton, PA) grabbed an offensive board and put it back up and in.
Desiree White (First Year; Carlisle, PA) followed with a lay-up through contact, and, after a Salem bucket on the other end,
Nariyah Turner (Sophomore; Philadelphia, PA) popped a three-pointer from the corner to help Lackawanna to a 41-26 with a little over a minute to go in the half. Salem battled, but
Saraiah Franklin (First Year; Philadelphia, PA) stole an inbounds pass, whipped a pass to South, and got the assist when South converted on a lay-up at the buzzer that capped a 48-point first half for Lackawanna.
Â
Lackawanna continued to press high in the second half, building a lead that slowly climbed over 20, and then, eventually, 30 points, on its way to a third straight win to close out the 2023 portion of the season. White led the Falcons with 26 points on the day.
