SCRANTON, Pa. – Catonsville spoiled Lackawanna College's home opener, doubling up the Falcons with a 62-36 decision in the first game of the season for the side from Scranton on Wednesday evening inside the Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.

The Falcons (0-1) held a 4-0 less than a minute into the game, but an 18-2 run went the rest of the quarter, as Catonsville (3-1) shot 47% in the first stanza, and used pressure defense to force Lackawanna into numerous turnovers. Lackawanna was just 2-for-14 from the field in the first quarter, and went nearly seven minutes between buckets. After scoring to cut the deficit to 11-6 with 2:25 to play in the first quarter, the Falcons went the final two minutes of the first, the entire second quarter, and the first four minutes of the third quarter before making another shot from the field. In that span, they scored just four points, all from the free throw line.

By the time the shots finally started to fall, the deficit was too great to overcome. Lackawanna shot just 2-for-26 in the first half, and finished 11-for-63, a 17% clip from the field. Meanwhile, Catonsville was 30% from the field for the game, and forced 30 turnovers, with 16 steals. The Cardinals out-scored the Falcons 19-to-5 in points off turnovers.

Catonsville's Kayla Cabbagestalk led all scorers with 21 points, while Tenea Robinson had 18 points and seven rebounds.
Desiree White (First Year; Carlisle, PA) led the Falcons with eleven points, while
Ali Johns (First Year; North Wales, PA) had four points and a team-high ten rebounds.
Alasiah Carter (First Year; Coatesville, PA) had five points, all in the second half, while
Nariyah Turner (Sophomore; Philadelphia, PA) came up with four points and five rebounds.

Lackawanna will look to bounce back when the Falcons travel to Wye Mills, MD, on Saturday, November 11
th, as the Falcons take on Chesapeake College in the first game of a doubleheader with the men's squads. That game is set for a 1:00pm ET start.
