MBB: Falcons Hit The Century Mark, Snap Skid Against Central Penn College

Lackawanna College Had Five Players In Double-Figures And Shot 50% From The Field In The Win

1/31/23

SCRANTON, Pa. -- In a game it needed to get back on track, Lackawanna College men's basketball put five players in double-figures and scored its most points in four years, on the way to a 108-64 win at home vs. Central Penn College on Tuesday evening inside the Lackawanna College Student Union.

The Falcons (12-7), boosted by a boisterous home crowd, overcame a sluggish opening minutes with back-to-back-to-back three-point shots, then ratcheted up the defensive pressure to take a double-digit lead that would never dip below 15 the rest of the way. The 108 points scored by Lackawanna College is the most the Falcons have scored since February 17, 2019, when they scored 109 points in a win over Morris.

Lackawanna shot 50.6% from the field as a team, and hit nine three-pointers, while outrebounding the Knights (5-13) 50-to-29 and forcing 16 turnovers. Eleven of the 12 Falcons that saw time, scored, led by Aamir Mack (Atlantic City, NJ) with 16 points and five rebounds, as well as three assists. Rahmad Ali (Newark, NJ) added 15 points and five boards, while Malek Mims (Bethlehem, PA) and Julian Wilson (Williamsport, PA) each added 12 points, apiece. The Falcons had 24 assists to just nine turnovers, while holding Central Penn to just 13% shooting from downtown, and 37% overall on the evening.

The Knights were led by Quadere Allen's 23 points and eleven boards, while Khalil Dukes added eleven points.

Lackawanna College gets a big test in its next match-up, when the Falcons host the Harcum College Bears in a Division I/II crossover match-up in Region XIX. The game is set for a 2:00pm ET tip-off on Saturday, February 4th, and will be the second game of a doubleheader, with the women's teams playing first at 12:00pm ET inside the Lackawanna College Student Union.
