WBB: Fourth Quarter Helps Lackawanna Put Away Northampton, 75-51

The Falcons Outscored The Spartans 24-11 In The Final Period To Pull Away

1/26/23

SCRANTON, Pa. -- A stellar fourth quarter helped Lackawanna College keep distance between itself and Northampton CC, propelling the Falcons to a 75-51 victory on Tuesday evening in Region XIX crossover play inside the Lackawanna College Student Union.

The Falcons (8-7), who held a double-digit lead through most of the second and third quarters, led by nine points at 49-40 after a Northampton (10-6) bucket late in the third. In the dying moments of the period, Dominique Geiger (Plainfield, NJ) scored a lay-up to restore the Falcons to a double-digit margin, which gave Lackawanna all the momentum it needed to run away with things in the fourth.

Lackawanna College shot 43% for the game, and 46% in the second half. The Falcons forced 21 turnovers, and held Northampton to just 22% from the field, and 18% in the second half.

Four Falcons were in double-figures in scoring, with Sidney Spence (Bronx, NY) leading the way at 20 points and five boards. Spence was an efficient 8-for-14 from the floor. Geiger had 17 points and six assists, as well as four boards, and Cianna Roberts (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds. Mahogony Collins (Harrisburg, PA) posted four points, nine blocks, and 15 rebounds.

Northampton was led by Zoe Cruz, who scored 13 points. Xion Spence had seven points and a game-high 20 rebounds, while Madison Kluska added eight points and nine boards.

The Falcons have a few days off before they get back to Region XIX play on Tuesday, January 31st, when they travel to #20 Union County College. That game is set for a 6:00pm ET tip-off in Cranford, NJ.
