NEWARK, NJ -- Women's basketball battled but ultimately fell to Essex, 54-52, in game one of the doubleheader in Newark, NJ. No scoring stats were available at press time.
 
The Falcons (7-7, 4-2) are, for the moment, still a half-game ahead of Union County College for second place in the Region XIX DII standings. Their next game is this Thursday, January 26^th, when they host the Northampton CC Spartans in a cross-divisional match-up. Tip-off is set for 5:00pm ET inside the Lackawanna Student Union gymnasium.
