SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College women's volleyball team got an unexpected week off to recover and recuperate, but now the Falcons will hit the road for another Region XIX match-up on Tuesday, September 27
th, when they travel to Lehigh Carbon CC to take on the Cougars. The match is set to start at 6:00pm ET, and will have a video livestream available via the Lehigh Carbon CC Athletics YouTube channel

This is the second match-up between Lackawanna and Lehigh Carbon, as both teams met in the first match of the season in Scranton at the Lackawanna Student Union. The Falcons swept the Cougars, 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-11), for the win. You can read the full recap from that match

About The Falcons
Lackawanna College (1-5) has dropped its last five matches, after winning its season opener. In its last game, Lackawanna lost in straight sets to Harcum College. The Falcons had a lead late in the second set, but the Bears stormed back to take it 25-23, and eventually win the third set at 25-18. You can read the full match recap

Hitting errors have plagued Lackawanna this year, with the Falcons amassing 99 kills, along with 93 errors. They average around 5.5 kills per set. Falcon opponents are averaging around .185 in hitting percentage, and score about 8 kills per set. The Falcons have 45 service aces on the season, averaging 2.5 per set, and have 292 digs on the season, a 16.2 digs per set clip.

Hunter Heeman (New Milford, PA) has a team-best 43 kills so far this season, and now has back-to-back matches with ten kills. Heeman has had six or more kills in five of her six matches this year. Heeman also has hit double-digit digs in four of her six matches on the season. Against Harcum, Heeman had ten kills on 37 attacks, with three assists, a service ace, and 16 digs.

Makayla Jones (Weatherford, TX) is second on the team with 21 kills on the season. Jones set a season-high for kills in her second straight match, going for seven kills against Harcum College. Jones now has more kills in her last two matches (13) than she did in her first four matches combined (8). She has also hit double-figures in digs in three of her last four matches. Against Harcum, Jones had seven kills on 31 attempts, with 18 digs for Lackawanna.

Melanie Pinillos (Miami, FL) is third on the team with 14 kills this year, and leads the team with 13 service aces this season. As Pinillos has settled more into her role as libero, her kills have gone down, but her digs have shot up, hitting double-figures in four of her six matches this season, crossing the 20-dig barrier twice. Pinillos had a season-high seven kills in the opener against Lehigh Carbon. She didn't record a kill against Harcum, but had a season-best five service aces to go with 21 digs for the Falcons.

Delaney Hollnebeck (Kingsley, PA) has 12 kills so far this season, and is third on the team with seven service aces on the season. Hollenbeck leads the Falcons with 52 assists this season, crossing double-figures in three matches this season. Hollenbeck has hit double-figures in assists in her last two matches. Against Harcum, Hollenbeck had two kills on 12 attacks, while dishing out a season-high 16 assists. Â

The head coach for the Falcons is
Shelby Morgan, in her first season at the helm. Morgan previously spent seven seasons as the head coach at Cedar Crest College, where she helped transform the Falcons from a conference basement dweller into a perennial threat, culminating in an NCAA tournament appearance in 2021.

About The Opponents
Lehigh Carbon CC (0-7) comes in looking for its first win. In their last match, the Cougars dropped a 3-0 decision at home to Harcum College. The Cougars lost three sets by the scores of 25-14, 25-9, and 25-13. Emily Kloiber led the team with four kills, while Anna Benner had a team-high three service aces. Leslie Tineo Lopez had a team-best eleven digs.

The Cougars are averaging just over two kills per set and have a negative hitting percentage, while their opponents are hitting at .278 and average just a shade under six kills per set. Lehigh Carbon's opponents average just under five service aces per set, and the Cougars average over nine digs per set.

Jahnessa Henry is third on the team with eight kills this year, and also had her season-high against Lackawanna, putting down six kills against the Falcons. Henry had 14 digs in the loss to Delaware Tech, and had one kill on nine attempts in the loss to Harcum College.

Tineo Lopez is the team-leader in service aces with ten on the year, and is second on the team with 42 digs this year. Tineo Lopez had a season-high five service aces against Lackawanna earlier this season, and has twice recorded double-digits in digs on the year, with a season-best 15 coming against Montgomery. In her last match, she had an assists and a service ace, as well as eleven digs, against Harcum.

Benner leads the Cougars with 46 digs on the year, and is second on the squad with seven service aces this season. Benner had four service aces against Lackawanna earlier this season, and has hit double-figures in digs in three matches this season, including 19 against Delaware Tech. Benner had three service aces and three digs in the loss to Harcum.
