SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College men's soccer team gets back to work this afternoon, when the Falcons travel to Media, PA to take on the Phantoms from Delaware County CC. The match is set for a 3:30pm ET kickoff, and will take place at the soccer field on the Marple campus at DCCC.
About The Falcons
Lackawanna College (1-0) comes into the contest fresh off their debut win over Lehigh Carbon CC, 4-0, this past Tuesday evening. In that game, the Falcons had 25 shots and held 60% of the possession, pulling away with three goals in the second half to knock off the Cougars at home.
Robert Jarvis Humphries (Soufriere, Dominica) had a pair of goals, one in each half, while
Kevin Andrade (Scranton, PA) and
Darlyn Uceta (Philadelphia, PA) each added a goal.

Andrade also an assist so far this season, as does
Ahmed Kaid (Staten Island, NY) and
Connor Hillis (Vestal, NY).
The Falcons also got solid contributions at the back from
Joshua Kalinock (Mount Pocono, PA),
Gerard Borosky (Scott Twp, PA) and
Willis Smith (Oxford, England), among others from Lackawanna's defense. Anytime it looked as if the Cougars were mounting an attack, the Falcons managed to snuff it out and quickly regain possession.
The Falcons are coached by
Zachary Shiposh, in his first season with Lackawanna College. Shiposh, a Clarks Summit native, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience from all over the world. Shiposh played at St. John's University in New York, gaining valuable high-level collegiate experience, and then transitioned into playing and coaching in soccer hotbeds like Brazil and Germany. He has several coaching certifications, and was the Falcon assistant in the spring 2022 semester before being elevated to head coach.
About The Opponents
Delaware County CC (0-1-0) also played their first game this past Tuesday, dropping a 3-0 decision at Montgomery County CC.
The Phantoms have a solid mix of local kids to Southeastern PA with international arrivals from as far away as Brazil, Liberia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Turkey.
The head coach for the Phantoms is second-year man Fatoma Turay. Turay was born in Sierra Leone, and came to the US to play for Wilmington University in the late 2000's, graduating from Wilmington in 2009. With the Wildcats, Turay helped lead his team to a Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) title in 2007, earning All-Region honors, All-American honorable mentions, and a CACC First Team appearance in 2009. Turay spent time with the Philadelphia Lone Star Football Club, both as a player, and then as a coach.
