Lackawanna College Takes Its First Road Trip Of The Season

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lackawanna College women's volleyball team hits the road for their first away match of the season tonight, September 13th, when the Falcons take on the Titans from County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ. The match is set to start at 6:00pm ET.  
 
About The Falcons
Lackawanna College (1-1) begins the week with its first of four match-ups in an eight-day span. The Falcons were last in action on Saturday when they hosted Delaware Tech. Lackawanna College put up a fight, but couldn't overcome the size and speed of Del Tech, dropping the match in a 3-0 sweep. You can read more about the match via the recap HERE.
 
Lackawanna College is led by middle-hitter Hunter Heeman (New Milford, PA), who has a team-high 14 kills on the season. Heeman had eight kills and 18 digs on Saturday against Delaware Tech. Heeman also has six service aces, first on the team, and six assists this year, second on the squad.
 
Libero Melanie Pinillos (Miami, FL) has been playing a little bit of everything so far this year, and is second on the team with nine kills this season, including a team-best seven in the win over Lehigh Carbon last week. Pinillos had a team-high 24 digs in the match-up with Delaware Tech, and is third on the team with four service aces so far this season.
 
Outside hitter Delaney Hollenbeck (Kingsley, PA) is second on the team with five service aces this season, and leads the team in assists with 17 helpers on the year. She also has four kills on the season for the Falcons, all coming in the match with Lehigh Carbon.
 
The head coach for the Falcons is Shelby Morgan, in her first season at the helm. Morgan previously spent seven seasons as the head coach at Cedar Crest College, where she helped transform the Falcons from a conference basement dweller into a perennial threat, culminating in an NCAA tournament appearance in 2021.
 
About The Opponents
County College of Morris (0-1) has played just one match so far this year, a loss on the road at Bergen in a five-set thriller. The Titans were 10-5 last year.
 
Morris had a balanced attack against Bergen, with four players recording five or more kills. Klaudia Podgorna led the squad with nine kills, and was second on the team with 17 assists. Antonella Maffei had eight kills and eight digs, while Dana Ospina had six kills and a team-high 12 digs. Gabriela Rojas led the team with 18 assists.
 
The head coach for County College of Morris is Corey Meyer.  
 
Match Details
