SCRANTON, Pa. – The 2022 Lackawanna College Softball team's regular season schedule is finally here, with the Falcons set to take on some top competition throughout the season.
Lackawanna College will begin its season on Sunday, March 6
th, at the Cal Ripken Experience Softball Complex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when they take on the Bay College Norse from Michigan in a doubleheader. The Falcons will also compete against Rochester CTC from Minnesota, and the Henry Ford College Hawks out of Michigan, during their stay in SC. Henry Ford College made it to the Great Lakes District B Championship game last year, before bowing out to Oakland, one win short of the NJCAA DII Softball World Series.
The Falcons will travel back north for away doubleheaders in Maryland against Harford CC, Hagerstown CC, and NJCAA DIII national runner-up SUNY Corning, before they head to upstate New York for a weekend series with SUNYs Onandaga, Suffolk, and Herkimer, hosted by Onandaga in Syracuse, NY. Suffolk and Herkimer each made the DIII World Series last year.
The Falcons have their first home game on Thursday, March 31
st, when they host the SUNY Orange Colts for a doubleheader at Scranton HS. Some of the other home games the Falcons have this year will be against WVU Potomac State, Mercer County CC, Brookdale CC, Monroe College, County College of Morris, Raritan Valley Cc, Lehigh Carbon CC, and Delaware Tech, which will be the final home games on Sunday, May 1
st.
Lackawanna College will also have road match-ups with Monroe College, PSU Hazleton, Delaware Tech, and SUNY Orange this year. After March, the Falcons are home in nine of their remaining 12 game dates.
The Falcons went 17-11 overall last season, and were 1-5 in Region XIX play. Lackawanna College made it to the Region XIX tournament, but were eliminated by Delaware Tech in successive games, helping the Terry Hawks to the Region XIX championship and, eventually, a berth in the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series.
