SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College women's basketball overcame an early deficit to post an impressive upset win over #10 Union County College, 74-50, on Saturday afternoon at the Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
After trailing 17-6 towards the end of the first quarter, the Falcons (5-4, 3-1) hit a pair of three-point shots to close the gap to five points at the end of the first, then went on a tear through the middle quarters, outscoring the Owls (5-3, 2-2) 45-19 through the second and third quarters on their way to a comfortable win.
Lackawanna shot 45% from the field, and outrebounded Union 48-to-33, while putting four players in double-figures.
Cianna Roberts (Brooklyn, NY) had 17 points off the bench to lead the Falcons, the main piece of a bench that scored 37 points for Lackawanna College. Roberts was 7-for-9 from the field, and had five rebounds.
Sidney Spence (Bronx, NY) added 10 points off the bench, while
Nya Jackson (Harrisburg, PA) scored 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting, 14 of which came in the second half.
Union was led by Khila Morris, who scored 17 points and had five rebounds.
The Falcons are back in action on Thursday, December 15
th, for their final game before the end of the fall semester. Lackawanna is set to host County College of Morris for the first game of a doubleheader at 5:00pm ET inside the Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
