ROCHESTER, NY -- For the second game in a row, the leading scorer for Lackawanna College came off the bench, as Sidney Spence (Bronx, NY) scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to fuel the Falcons to a 70-66 victory over SUNY Jamestown CC on day two of the Murph Shapiro Classic at Monroe CC on Sunday afternoon in Rochester, NY.
The Falcons (2-3) had three players in double-figures, with Spence leading the way, going 7-for-16 from the floor and 5-for-7 from the free throw line. Two other Falcons hit double-figures in scoring, as
McKeyah Duley (Massillon, OH) and Dominique Geiger (Plainfield, NJ) each scored 15 points. Duley led the team with six made free throws, going 6-for-9 from the charity stripe, and also had a team-best five steals. Meanwhile, Geiger was an efficient 7-for-12 from the field. Overall, Lackawanna wasn't outstanding from the field (37%) and the Falcons struggled from deep (11%), but they forced 22 Jayhawk turnovers, converting those into 21 points, and got 32 bench points. Lackawanna was 15-for-21 from the free throw line, going 6-for-6 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Lackawanna College opens Region XIX play in its next game, a Thursday night match-up on the road at Harcum College. That game is set for a 5:00pm ET tip-off on Thursday, November 17
th. The Bears were 2-0 against Lackawanna last season.
