NEWARK, De. -- The Falcons fell in a pair of matches at Delaware Tech CC on Saturday afternoon, falling to the hosts 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 8-25, 15-25) in match one, before dropping the second match to Cecil, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 24-26) at Delaware Tech's Stanton campus in Newark, DE.
 
The Falcons (2-10) worked hard in the first match to push the hosts, leading by a 15-11 margin in the first set before Del Tech rallied to eventually tie things at 19-all. The Terry Hawks then went on a killer run to pull away for a 25-20 first set win.
 
In set two, it was the Falcons who mounted a comeback, after initially trailing 7-1. Makayla Jones (Weatherford, TX) got a kill to start the run, and a pair of service aces from Delaney Hollenbeck (Kingsley, PA), along with some mistakes from Delaware Tech, helped the Falcons tie things up at at 8-all. Later, another Jones kill gave the Falcons a 15-14 advantage, which they would stretch to three points at 17-14. Del Tech rallied to draw even at 20-20, but another Jones kill gave the Falcons another lead. However, another Del Tech run made it 23-22, Terry Hawks, when Lackawanna called a timeout. Back-to-back kills from Hunter Heeman (New Milford, PA) put the Falcons up, and a service ace from Hollenbeck gave Lackawanna a huge win in the set to make it 1-1.
 
Unfortunately, the Terry Hawks took advantage of some Falcon mistakes in sets three and four to ensure the victory.
 
Match #2 vs. Cecil College


In match two, the Falcons took set one from Cecil College at 25-22 to take a 1-0 advantage, and had a 21-16 lead in set two, but the Eagles rallied with a killer run to tie things up at 22-all, and then pushed forward for the win in set two. After Cecil took set three, the Falcons fought tooth-and-nail in the fourth set, getting to set point at 24-23, before a service error, followed by two points from the Eagles put an end to things.
 
Lackawanna College gets back to work with another tri-match, happening on Tuesday, October 11^th, when the Falcons host both Harcum College and County College of Morris in the Lackawanna Student Union Gymnasium at 4:00pm ET.
