Scranton, PA -Â Friday afternoon the Lackawanna College baseball team played Sussex County Community College in the Region 19 Division II Baseball Tournament round. Although Sussex scored the game's initial run in the top of the first, the Falcons answered with 11 over the next five innings to claim an 11-1 win.
Lackawanna scored their first run on an error in the first. In the second inning
Jake Kelchner drove in two runs with a homer while
Raymond Vorhees added another score with a dinger. In the third, Vorhees singled in a run and Kelchner doubled in two more.
Colin Macko doubled in Lackawanna's eighth run of the day in the fourth. Finally, in the fifth,
Brandon Ernst singled in two runs before
Quinn Hanafin drove in the game-winning tenth run with a base hit.
The Falcon batters contributed four extra-base hits and three multi-hit games, Kelchner with a homer and double, Vorhees with a homer and Macko with a double supplied the extra-base hits.
Brandon Ernst (4-2-3-2),
German Vasquez (4-0-3-1), and Kelchner (4-2-3-4) provided the multi-hit games.
Zach Klapak earned the win after hurling five innings while relinquishing one run on one hit. He registered five strikeouts.
