Box Score New Jersey – The #8 Lackawanna College Women's Basketball team traveled to Rowan College of Burlington County, Saturday, for an early season Region XIX match-up. It had been a week since the Lady Falcons had played and they were anxious to get back on the court. Lackawanna would come out of the locker room focused and controlled all 4 quarters of the game.
In the first quarter,
Jamie Brann, who was back with the team after last week's Region XIX Volleyball Tournament, made her presence known early by scoring a quarter high 8 points for Lackawanna.
Kyla Smith would add a three and with baskets from
Ciaira Loyd and
Briaunna McCullough, the Lady Falcons would end the quarter with a 23-14 advantage. Lackawanna increased their lead to double digits in the 2
nd quarter behind the shooting of
Ciaira Loyd and
Kyla Smith. Loyd would lead the way with 10 points, while Smith added a pair of 3-pointers, giving the Lady Falcons a 42-31 lead going into the half.
Coming out of the locker room, Lackawanna continued to control the momentum of the game.
Briaunna McCullough got hot and scored 8 points in the 3
rd quarter, while
Jazmin Wright and
Keyanah Price added 4 points apiece. RCBC was unable to match the Lady Falcons' offense, only scoring 11 points in the quarter. The 3
rd quarter would come to an end with Lackawanna leading 61-42.
In the 4
th and final quarter, Lackawanna held RCBC to only 9 points, as they outscored the Lady Barons 21-9.
Alayah Cowan-Walker led the way with 10 points in the quarter, which included a 3-pointer.
Ciaira Loyd added another 5 points and the Lady Falcons would come away with an 82-51 win, to move to 3-1 on the season.
Lackawanna College was led in scoring by
Ciaira Loyd with 17 points, followed by
Briaunna McCullough with 14. Loyd and McCullough also had 4 steals each, while Loyd dished out a game high 8 assists.
Jasmine Lewis and
Keyanah Price grabbed 10 defensive rebounds between them, while Price grabbed another 5 offensive rebounds. The Lady Falcons will return to action Tuesday, November 19
th when they host Bucks County Community College. This will be Lackawanna's first home game of the season at the Lackawanna College Student Union. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
