Dr. Lou Cella, is a Sport and Performance Psychologist, who has been involved on-and-off with Lackawanna College Football since 2006, and is a 24-year veteran of the college and high school football coaching profession.
Cella, after a few years away, has rejoined the Lackawanna College football staff as the offensive line coach for the 2024 season.
A graduate of Old Forge High School, Dr. Cella earned an Associate’s Degree from Luzerne County Community College (Education), a Bachelor’s Degree from East Stroudsburg University (Secondary Education/English), a Master’s Degree from Mansfield University (School Library and Information Technology), and a Doctorate from University of the Rockies (Sport and Performance Psychology).
Dr. Cella is owner of AFSSMCA, LLC and the Triple Option Football Academy, where he works with high school and college programs throughout the United States as a Sport and Performance Psychologist. He has helped schools win state championships; go to state championship games; achieve state playoff appearances; and create immediate, drastic turnarounds, all as a consultant.
Lou's HS coaching career includes taking over a Montrose HS football program in 2014 that had won just three games in the previous three seasons, and had just recently broken a 35-game losing streak. In two years, Dr. Cella had the Meteors at 5-5 in the rugged Lackawanna Football Conference.
Cella was a part of the football staff with Lackawanna for eight years prior to his taking over at Montrose. While the Falcons weren't running triple option, Cella helped stabilize the lines for Lackawanna, and was part of the coaching staff that got the Falcons back to the postseason in the early 2010s, as Lackawanna made three postseason bowl games from 2008 to 2011
Dr. Cella resides in Harding.
