DUNMORE, Pa. – Berkeley College scored a stunner in the 76^th minute against ten-man Lackawanna College to win, 2-1, in USCAA men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Schautz Stadium.
 
The Falcons (0-2-1) seemed to have recovered from a sluggish first half when Aydin Boyunegmez (Millville, PA) skied to head home a ball in the 56^th minute to level the score, but a player got sent off eight minutes later, and Berkeley (1-1-0) took advantage of the man-advantage 12 minutes after that with a wonder strike in the 76^th. A loose ball brought keeper Rowin Thomas (Abilene, TX) out to the box, where he tried to boot the ball free, but his swing popped the ball up, and Berkeley's Alvaro Carrera timed his volley perfectly, dipping his left shoulder and swinging his right leg through the ball, popping it over the retreating Thomas into the net.
 
That was the second goal for Carrera, who put the Knights up in the 31^st minute, as the Falcons struggled to get out of the starting blocks.
 
Berkeley outshot the Falcons, 11-8, but Lackawanna had more shots on target. Berkeley had three saves and earned a pair of corners.
 
Lackawanna College will now try to prepare themselves for PSAC play, as the Falcons open that portion of their schedule with a road match at East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday, September 9^th. That game is set for a 7:00pm ET start in East Stroudsburg.
