LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lackawanna College women's volleyball struggled in its first true road game in the PSAC, falling in straight-sets at Lock Haven University (25-9, 25-4, 25-11) on Saturday afternoon in the Thomas Fieldhouse on campus at Lock Haven.
 
The Falcons (0-6) were mistake-riddled throughout the contest, doubling their kills (7) with attack errors (14) and committing 17 serve receive errors, gifting the Bald Eagles (8-4) 17 aces throughout the afternoon. LHU hit a blistering .362 for the afternoon, including .560 in the second set, while Lackawanna was -.109 for the day.
 
Sophia Bedics (Bethlehem, PA) had two kills, while Ciona Braziel (Fort Worth, TX) added a pair of kills and a solo block. Kady Schreiner (Mountaintop, PA) added four assists and one kill. Delianie Del Bois (New Port Richey, FL) had a team-high nine digs.
 
Set one saw Haven hit the front immediately, scoring the first four points and leading 9-3 through the first 12 points, with all the Lackawanna points coming on LHU errors. Bedics had the first kill of the match for the Falcons to make it 9-4, but LHU scored the next ten points to lengthen their lead. Braziel posted a pair of kills to give the Falcons some light, and Nadia Toth (Dalton, PA) picked up a kill late, but LHU closed things out at 25-9.
 
In set two, things completely came undone for the Falcons, as LHU scored the first 15 points of the set, including a run where they had four straight aces. Errors gave the Falcons back-to-back points, and Bedics picked up another kill to make it 18-3, but LHU had no issues getting to 25-4, posting 14 kills.
 
Set three was more of the same through the first seven points, which all went to the Bald Eagles. LHU led 12-4 through the first 16 points, only giving up points through their own errors, and that would be the case right up to 19-7, where Schreiner scored a kill to get within 19-7. Jana Hofmann (Colorado Springs, CO) got a kill to make it 19-8, and the Falcons would score a few more points thanks to errors to get to 21-11, but Haven finished off the last four points on three kills and an ace.
 
Lock Haven's Avery Smith had a team-high nine kills on .412 hitting, while Madelyn Mitchell had eight kills and five digs. Natalie Gibson had 18 assists, and Olivia Taylor had nine aces and 12 digs.
 
The Falcons are back to action on Tuesday, September 22^nd, when they travel to take on Kutztown University. First serve is set for 6:30pm ET at Brandywine Heights HS in Mertztown, PA. Kutztown's Keystone Arena is undergoing a massive multi-million-dollar renovation.
