DUNMORE, Pa. – Facing a team receiving votes in the latest national polls and picked to win the PSAC East, Lackawanna College men's soccer turned in an inspired effort, holding Millersville to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore.
 
The Falcons (0-3-2) entered the game after a tough loss on the road at East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night, but came in with a great game play and played the Marauders (4-1-1) even through the first 45 minutes. Wisdom Afrani (Accra, Ghana) recorded three shots, two on target and all within the first 15 minutes, to really test Millersville, and Lackawanna continued to test the Marauders into the halftime break.
 
However, the second half saw Millersville really control the pace and put the Falcons to the screws. The Marauders had seven second-half corners, nine shots, and three on target, but keeper Rowin Thomas (Abilene, TX) stood tall, picking up three second-half saves to help secure the clean sheet and the draw for the Falcons.
 
Afrani's three shots were a team-high, while Jonathan Cuellar (El Paso, TX) recorded a pair of shots off the bench. Brayden D'Aiello (Boyertown, PA) and Gage Sauserman (Shippensburg, PA) each had a shot for the Falcons.
 
The draw is the first "point" the Falcons have earned against PSAC competition in their history. Lackawanna will look to replicate that, or do even better, in its next game, when the Falcons travel to take on Bloomsburg University on Wednesday, September 16^th, at 7:00pm ET in Bloomsburg.
