MSOC: East Stroudsburg Uses Strong Second Half To Down Lackawanna

The Warriors Scored Three Second-Half Goals To Beat Back Lackawanna's Challenge

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Lackawanna College men's soccer defended well through the first half, but East Stroudsburg overwhelmed the Falcons in the second half, posting three goals to push past Lackawanna, 3-0, on Wednesday evening at Eiler-Martin Stadium on campus at East Stroudsburg.
 
The Falcons (0-3-1) were outshot in the first half, 8-2, but they defended well and Oluwatitofunmi Tokunboh-Salako (Columbia, MD) nearly put the Falcons on the board with a shot saved in front of net in the 42nd minute.
 
However, the Warriors (2-3-0) stepped up their pressure in the second half, putting eleven shots on the board, five on target, and scored in the 49th minute to immediately put the Falcons on the back heel. A second Warrior goal came in the 66th, and a third score pushed East Stroudsburg to three goals to the good in the 79th minute.
 
Keeper Rowin Thomas (Abilene, TX), subbed on in the 16th minute, had a pair of saves in the second half. Wisdom Afrani (Accra, Ghana) had the other shot on target, while Jonathan Cuellar (El Paso, TX) also recorded a shot.
 
Lackawanna College will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 12th, when the Falcons will host Millersville University. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm ET at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore.
