DUNMORE, Pa. -- Four first half goals helped set the table for visiting Shippensburg University, as the Raiders blew past Lackawanna College, 6-0, in women's soccer action between future PSAC foes on Saturday afternoon at Schautz Stadium.
 
The Falcons (0-1-0) were on the backfoot throughout the contest, as Shippensburg (1-0-1) peppered the net with 31 shots, 16 on-target, and nine corner kicks throughout the afternoon. The Falcons, meanwhile, could only muster a pair of shots.
 
Paige Marek scored a pair of goals off the bench, while four different Raiders added a tally throughout the afternoon.
 
Meanwhile, Sophia Arvelo (Allentown, PA) had 10 saves in goal, doing what she can to keep the Falcons in the contest.
 
Shippensburg scored 18 minutes into the contest through Emma Eisenhart, and the Falcons managed to fight back a bit with some pressure, getting an opportunity in the 25^th minute when a Tazjeane Bird (Upper Darby, PA) shot was blocked down to MacKenzie Seifried (Winfield, NJ), who pulled a shot wide left. Three minutes later, in the 28^th, a second goal came for Shippensburg to go ahead 2-0.
 
Marek scored her first goal in the 38^th minute, and a shot in the upper 90 in the 44^th minute was the fourth goal of the half, just before the interval.
 
The Falcons were on the defensive throughout the second half, and Shippensburg eventually broke through on a penalty given in the 73^rd minute, when a reckless tackle in the box resulted in a yellow. Their sixth and final goal came in the 83^rd minute, Marek's second goal, to round out the scoring.
 
Lackawanna College is back to action on Wednesday, September 2^nd, with another home contest against a PSAC opponent, as Kutztown University, receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II poll, comes to town. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm ET at Schautz Stadium.
