SCRANTON, Pa. -- The thirty-first Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week for the 2025-2026 school year is Lackawanna College softball student-athlete
Ayahna Fleisher (Duncannon, PA)!
"Ya-Ya" was 4-for-10 from the plate scoring a pair of runs for the Falcons and reaching base at least once in all three games this past weekend in the Region XIX Division II playoffs. Fleisher was 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases against Delaware Tech in the elimination game on Saturday. She reached base, stole second, and scored the game's first run in the top of the fifth to give Lackawanna a 1-0 lead, then scored the second run for the Falcons in the seventh inning after reaching on a single, scoring to make it 2-1. She pitched well, despite the losses, going a combined 12.2 innings and giving up a combined ten hits and eight runs, five earned, with 13 strikeouts. She finishes her first season at Lackawanna College with a .542 batting average and a 1.415 OPS, collecting 90 hits and 59 RBIs. She had 22 stolen bases and scored 76 runs this year. Fleisher also had a 2.90 ERA in 22 appearances, striking out 120 batters and finishing 9-9 on the season.
Ayahna is a first-year student-athlete at Lackawanna College, majoring in Diagnostic Sonography. This is her second Athlete of the Week nomination, winning earlier this season in March.
The softball Falcons set a school-record for wins with 41 victories this past season, but fell short in the Region XIX Division II playoffs, ending their final junior college season of competition. The next time the Falcons take the field for a regular season game will be as a four-year institution next year, competing against other four-year schools and against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition.
