Lackawanna College Baseball and Softball Were Both Represented In This Week's EPAC Players Of The Week Nominations Because Of Key Performances

4/14/26

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College baseball and softball each earned Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Players of the Week nominations for some key performances last week, as softtball student-athlete Riley Knott (Clarks Summit, PA) was named as the EPAC Softball Player of the Week for her performance at the plate, and baseball student-athlete Josiah Williams (Emmaus, PA) was named as the EPAC Baseball Player of the Week for his showing on the mound.

Riley had a remarkable week at the dish for Lackawanna College, hitting 17-for-24 (.708) at the plate and driving in an astounding 34 RBIs in six games. Riley had 20 RBIs in one day, a program-record, hitting four home runs and three doubles in a doubleheader victory over Raritan Valley CC. Riley had two grand slams and two two-run homers across both games, posting eleven RBIs in game one and nine RBIs in game two. Against Catonsville, Knott had four more RBIs, all coming in game two, hitting a deep two-run homer to left field to spark the Falcons to the 12-0 win. Against County College of Morris on Sunday, Riley had a combined ten RBIs in two games, posting a pair of doubles in the doubleheader sweep. She scored 15 runs and hit six doubles and five home runs through the course of last week. Her OPS was an astronomical 2.342 across all six games last week, with a sky-high OBP of .759. She drove in more RBIs (34) in one week than she had the whole season leading up to it (30).

Meanwhile, Josiah threw his best game of the season against Morris on Saturday, allowing just one run in six innings and striking out a season-best ten batters in the 11-3 win for the Falcons. It was the third-straight victory in what has now become a six-game winning streak for the Falcons. Jo pitched around four walks and he had only two real innings of trouble. In the third, Morris used an error and two walks to load the bases with one out, but Williams struck out the side in the inning, including the final two batters to strand the bases loaded. In the sixth, Morris had a leadoff single and then an RBI triple to score its first run of the game, but Williams struck out a batter, got a grounder to third that held the runner, and then struck out the final batter to strand that run and finish his day strong. Josiah is now 4-6 overall and has 45 strikeouts in 37.1 innings, the most on the team.

Knott was named as the EPAC Softball Player of the Week as a batter, while Delaware Tech's Abby Marsh was named the EPAC Softball Player of the Week as a pitcher. Williams was the pitcher representative for EPAC Baseball, while there was no winner as a batter.

Knott is a sophomore student-athlete at Lackawanna College, studying Criminal Justice, while Williams is a sophomore majoring in Business Studies. Williams was named as the Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week, earlier this week.
