Lackawanna College Softball Player Ayahna Fleisher Was Named As The EPAC Player Of The Week For Her Performance At The Plate

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Lackawanna College softball student-athlete Ayahna Fleisher (Duncannon, PA) was named as the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Softball Player of the Week for her important week at the plate for the Falcons, according to a release from the EPAC on Monday afternoon.

Ayahna had another strong week for the Falcons, winning a pair of games in the circle, earning a save in another game, and going a combined 9-for-14 (.643) in four games, helping the Falcons go 4-0 on the week. Ayahna had a combined nine RBIs in four games, while posting two doubles and an inside-the-park home run. Against CCBC Catonsville on Tuesday, she overcame a rough first two innings to hold the Cardinals scoreless over the final five innings, while also going 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Fleisher had the go-ahead RBI in the fifth inning, hitting an RBI single to give the Falcons a 7-6 lead in a game they'd win 14-6. She struck out seven and scattered eight hits in the win. She had two doubles, three total hits, and three RBIs in the 12-11 game two win. One of her doubles came in the seventh inning, giving the Falcons a 12-10 lead. She came on to pitch with two outs in the bottom half of the seventh, with two runners on and a slim one-run lead, and got the fly out to center to win the game and earn the save. In two games on Sunday, she was a combined 5-for-6 with four runs, five RBIs, and an inside-the-park homer. Against Madison, Ayahna spread seven hits over seven innings, holding the Wolfpack to just one run on the day. She scored three runs and drove in three RBIs against Mohawk Valley, all three RBIs coming on an inside-the-park homer. She posted a 1.722 OPS for the week. On the year, Fleisher is hitting .462 with a 1.312 OPS. She leads the Falcons in several categories, including runs (14), hits (18), extra-base hits (7), homers (2), RBIs (20), total bases (30), slugging (.769), HBPs (5), and stolen bases (5). In the circle, she is 4-1 with a 3.68 ERA in eight appearances. Ayahna has given up 22 runs, 20 earned, on 42 hits in 38 innings, striking out 38. She also has two saves.

Fleisher was named as the POTW as a batter, while Delaware Tech's Abby Marsh was named as a POTW as a pitcher. Marsh gave up just two runs in 14 innings pitched, striking out 12 and picking up two wins and a save, as well.

Elsewhere, Northampton CC baseball pitcher Gavin Panovec was named EPAC Pitcher Player of the Week, while Del Tech's Will Austin was named POTW as a batter. Northampton men's volleyball player Luke Smith was named as the MVB POTW. 

Fleisher is a first-year student-athlete at Lackawanna College, and she's studying Diagnostic Sonography. She was named as the Lackawanna College Athlete of the Week, earlier this week.

The softball Falcons are currently in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, competing at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic.
