SB: Falcons Ride Revere, Opportunistic Offense To Run-Rule Victories

Lackawanna College Dominated All Afternoon In A Doubleheader Sweep Against Finger Lakes CC On Tuesday

3/24/26

SCRANTON, Pa. – Two overwhelming performances helped Lackawanna College softball to a pair of victories over Finger Lakes CC on Tuesday afternoon, 10-0 and 13-1, both in five innings in non-region play at Scranton HS softball field.

The Falcons (15-6) were playing their first games at Scranton HS this year, while the visitors from Finger Lakes CC (0-2) were competing in their first games of the 2026 campaign.

Game one starter Mekenzie Revere (Ansonia, CT) had the most strikeouts in one game (15) since former Falcon Mia Pawelski struck out 15 against Henry Ford College in 2020. In fact, Revere's strikeouts were the only outs recorded for Finger Lakes CC, with no balls, besides their two hits, being put into play.

So, while Revere held the Lakers down, the Falcons did their damage on offense. Mia Scalese (Moscow, PA) and Laniah Tasker (Chambersburg, PA) hit a pair of RBI doubles to put the Falcons up 3-0 in the first inning. The Falcons had a chance for more in the first, loading the bases with nobody out, but a pop up was the first out, and then a bizarre play where the Falcons were caught napping on a fly ball that dropped on the infield and got doubled off ended the potential rally early.

After Revere pitched around a leadoff single in the top of the second, Scalese drove a run in on another RBI single, and Riley Knott (Clarks Summit, PA) doubled home a pair of runs that made it 6-0. An RBI single from Madison Pirolli (Southampton, PA), followed by a two-run single from Haleigh Mazol (Stroudsburg, PA) pushed the Lackawanna advantage to 9-0 after just two innings.

Lackawanna added one more run in the bottom of the third via an RBI ground out, and Revere and company made that stand out, as she continued to dominate on the mound. There was a moment in the top of the fourth where it looked like the Lakers might break through, using a leadoff walk and a two-out single to get a pair of runners on. A passed ball pushed the runners into scoring position, but Revere recovered to get a swinging strikeout to strand the runners and move the game to the fifth, where Revere slammed the door shut with three more strikeouts.

Revere allowed just two hits and a walk in five innings, striking out 15 batters. At the plate, Ayahna Fleisher (Duncannon, PA) was 3-for-3 with three runs, while both Scalese and Knott had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, respectively. Tasker and Mazol also added two RBIs, each.

Game two was more of the same, with Lackawanna dominating on offense, but the Lakers managed to get a little offense going, as well.

Finger Lakes got a leadoff single to start the game, but Mackenzie Adolfson (Throop, PA) fired a laser to shortstop Mekenzie Dineen (Wilmington, DE) to catch the runner stealing for the first out of the game. A two-out double allowed the Lakers another baserunner, but Scalese, starting game two for the Falcons, got a swinging strikeout to end the inning.

Lackawanna wasted three straight singles, getting hung up on a pop fly that let the Lakers pick a runner off, and then lining into a double play at short, as the ball was flipped back to third to double off a straying Falcon on base.

The bottom of the second was where Lackawanna achieved liftoff on offense. An Adolfson leadoff walk was rewarded with a double over the left fielder's head by Pirolli, making it 1-0 as Adolfson hustled home. A few batters later, with the bases loaded and nobody out, Fleisher singled on a blooper to left that made it 2-0, Falcons. A pitching change resulted in a sac fly and a fly out, putting two outs on the board and making it 3-0, Lackawanna. Tasker doubled to left to score two more runs, and Adolfson doubled to deep right field to push another run across that made it 6-0. Pirolli singled down the left field line, scoring two more runs, and Lackawanna now held an 8-0 lead heading into the third.

Another sac fly, this time by Knott, made it 9-0, and pinch hitter Tori May (New Castle, PA) singled to left to score a run and make it 10-0, Falcons. In stepped Adolfson, and she rocketed a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence with ease, scoring three runs to make it 13-0 on her first home run of the season. Lackawanna was threatening for more in the third, loading the bases with two outs, but another double play, this time on a liner to third, ended the threat.

New pitcher Arianna Gaylord (Wyoming, PA) struggled out of the gate in the fourth, with back-to-back base hits and a walk loaded the bases to start the inning. A two-run single to right scored the first two runs of the season for the Finger Lakes, but Gaylord recovered with a double play line out to right field, followed by a swinging strikeout.

In the top of the fifth, Gaylord got the first two outs, but a walk, an error, and an RBI single got the Finger Lakes a third run. Gaylord finally managed to end things, though, inducing a pop fly to herself to close out the game and give the Falcons the sweep.

Fleisher was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, while Tasker went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs, and Adolfson added four RBIs and three runs. Pirolli had two hits and three RBIs. Scalese picked up the win, striking out eight in three innings, allowing just two hits.

Lackawanna College is now 15-6 overall and will look to add another pair of Region XIX Division II contests to its win total with a doubleheader at County College of Morris on Thursday, March 26th. First pitch is set for 3:00pm ET in Randolph, NJ. Thursday's games are the first of the year for Morris.
