WVB: Lock Haven Knocks Off Lackawanna In Four Sets

The Falcons Took Set Three But Ultimately Fell To The Visiting Bald Eagles

10/16/26

SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College women's volleyball rallied for a much better showing in the final two sets, but the Falcons ultimately fell to the Lock Haven Bald Eagles on Friday night in four sets (25-10, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17) inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.

The Falcons (0-13) had 22 attack errors and 16 service errors on the night, but they hit at a .186 clip in the final two sets, well above what they have been attacking at this season. The Bald Eagles (14-5) hit .216 for the match and had a .393 attack percentage in the fourth set alone, while posting eleven aces throughout the night.

Lock Haven used a 7-0 run on the Falcons in set one to take a 12-5 lead, then scored ten of the final 12 points, including the last five, to run away for the 25-10 win in the opening set.

LHU led 7-2 through the first nine points of set two, and the lead expanded out to 22-7 at one point, but the Falcons rallied well ten-straight points to get within 22-17, boosted by three kills from Jana Hofmann (Colorado Springs, CO) in that span. Unfortunately, the rally fell short, and LHU scored three of the last four points to win it 25-18.

Lackawanna took some of that momentum into set three, rallying from a 5-2 deficit to go ahead 6-5. The teams battled back and forth through the third set, with Lackawanna eventually pulling ahead 17-14 on kills from Nadia Toth (Dalton, PA) and Angelique Fuentes (Miami, FL). LHU tied the set at 18-18, but Lackawanna scored four more points to get back in front at 22-18. The Falcons got to 24-21, and LHU got within a point at 24-23, but Lackawanna won on an attack error to get a set off the Bald Eagles.

Hofmann had a pair of kills early in set four, and the Falcons were tied at 6-6 through the first 12 points, but LHU went on a 4-0 run to get up 10-6. Lackawanna closed to within two at 13-11, but LHU scored five of the next six points to expand the lead to 18-12. It ballooned to 21-13 before the Falcons tried to make one last push, getting it to 24-17 before the Bald Eagles ended things at 25-17.

Hofmann finished with ten kills on .158 hitting, posting five digs, while Ciona Braziel (Fort Worth, TX) had six kills. Fuentes had four kills, while Kaitlyn Reed (Aurora, CO) posted four kills and nine assists. Adalee Rosado Rivera (Guyama, Puerto Rico) had a team-high 13 digs, while Hailey Buck (Johnstown, PA) posted eight digs.

Lackawanna College gets right back to work on Saturday, October 17th, with a home contest against Bloomsburg University. First serve is set for 1:00pm ET inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.
