WBB: Defense, Randle Double-Double Fuels Falcons Win Over Baltimore City CC

Lackawanna College Snapped A Seven-Game Skid With A Solid Performance At Home Against The Visiting Panthers

1/17/26

SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College women's basketball used a strong defensive effort and a balanced offensive output to pace the Falcons past the Panthers from Baltimore City CC, 67-28, in non-region action on Saturday afternoon inside the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium.

The Falcons (5-10) held the visitors to just 16% shooting and forced 23 turnovers on the afternoon, scoring 17 points off turnovers, while also scoring 20 points on second-chance opportunities.

The Panthers (1-19) held just one lead, scoring the game's first bucket, but that quickly changed when Ali Johns (North Wales, PA) swished home a three-pointer from the wing. Lackawanna opened a 16-4 advantage after one quarter, then held BCCC to just one score over the next 13 minutes of game time, expanding the lead out to 37 points at 43-6 midway through the third quarter. They'd coast to victory from there, shooting 38% for the game and 41% in the second half, while dominating on the boards with a 60-42 advantage.

Lackawanna put five players in double-figures for points, getting a game-high 13 points and ten rebounds from Canyah Randle (Scranton, PA), her breakout game on the season. Sophia Summa (Dunmore, PA) added 12 points and five assists, while Johns scored eleven points and added five steals. Alania Ortiz (Allentown, PA) scored eleven points and dished out four assists, while Jasmin Romano (East Stroudsburg, PA) came off the bench with eleven points, hitting three three-pointers.

The win snaps a seven-game skid for the Falcons, who won their first game since November 22nd against Delaware Tech. Lackawanna will try to make it two-in-a-row when the Falcons travel to take on the County College of Morris on Tuesday, January 20th, in Region XIX Division II action. The game is scheduled for a 5:00pm ET start at Morris in Randolph, NJ, and it'll be the first game of a doubleheader, with the men's teams playing afterwards.
