SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna women's volleyball played some of its best volleyball of the year and won in straight sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-11) against Union College (NJ) on Thursday evening at the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium in non-region action.

The Falcons (5-5) got eight kills from
Jana Hofmann (Colorado Springs, CO), along with five aces. First-year player
Skylar Theis (Cypress, TX) added four kills and an ace, while
Ellania Morales (Wharton, NJ) had four kills and 17 assists.
Regan Freas (Louisa, VA) added six kills.

Lackawanna trailed in the first set, 4-2, then rattled off six straight points to make it 10-4. Union (7-5) battled back to get within 11-9, but the Falcons used another run to get out to a 16-10 advantage. Later, with the set at 16-13, Lackawanna got Union serving error, followed by an ace from
Delianie Del Bois (New Port Richey, FL), fueling a run that saw the Falcons clinch a 25-17 first set win.

In set two, things were tight through the first 16 points. With Lackawanna ahead 9-7, the Falcons hit another killer run to get ahead 14-7, thanks in part to three straight kills from
Aryanna Brown (Chester, NY) and Freas. The Falcons kept lengthening their lead, using a pair of aces from Brown, a kill from Theis, and some errors from Union. The Falcons won set two at 25-15 on an error from the Owls.

Set three saw the Falcons jump out to an early lead and never let up. Lackawanna turned an 8-5 lead into 13-5, fueled by kills from Hofmann, Morales, and Freas. The Falcons kept their feet on the gas pedal, getting ahead at 21-7 at one point, and then cruised to the win at 25-11.

Lackawanna is back to .500 overall on the year, and the Falcons are back to work on Saturday, September 27
th, with a tri-match against Raritan Valley CC and Monroe University at the historic Lackawanna College Student Union gymnasium. The Falcons will start the day with a 10:00am match against Raritan Valley CC. Raritan will then play Monroe at 12:00pm ET, followed by Monroe and Lackawanna at 2:00pm ET.
